ITEM FOR P- LANNING COMMISSION. CONSIDERATION:
Presentation on proposed Best Buy Campus project.
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
No action is being requested at this time. The presentation is being
made to provide the Commission with information about the project.
II. BACKGROUND
Best Buy Corporation is proposing to construct 1.5 million square feet of office space in
the Interchange West area (Knox to Penn Avenues, 76th to 78th Streets). Opus, as the
developer, architect and builder of the project, will provide information to the Planning
Commission on the proposed development.
III. BASIS OF RECOMMENDATION
A. POLICY
It is anticipated that the Planning Commissionon will be asked to make a
recommendation on a rezoning request and final developent plan /conditional
use permit for the Best Buy Campus project on September 26. The study
session presentation provides an opportunity for the Planning Commission to
become knowledgeable about the project, ask questions, and provide
feedback to staff and the developer.

II. BACKGROUND
Gramercy Corporation is proposing to construct a mixed use development of rental
apartments, low rise cooperative units and office and retail space in the area south of
66th Street and the Lake Shore Drive condominiums, west of Lyndale Avenue and north
of Lake Shore Drive. The Planning Commission was given information on the project
earlier this year. The developer will bring the Commission up to date on the project.
III. BASIS OF RECOMMENDATION
