Subject: Housing and Redevelopment Tour
Council Members:
Please set aside 8:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, December 6 to participate in a brief
orientation in the Council Chambers and then a bus tour of cities which face similar
redevelopment challenges as Richfield. Each city has responded uniquely to
opportunities. The narrated tour will take the City Council, HRA and Planning
Commission to Edina, St. Louis Park, Minnetonka, Fridley, Columbia Heights, and
Minneapolis.
The intended purpose is:
1. To provide a clearer understanding of why more and different types of
housing is so important to the city; a brief slide show is planned.
2. To better define what it means to be competitive for people to live, work, and
do business in Richfield.
Please call Marnie McGrath, Community Development's Administrative Aide at 861-
9762 to confirm your availability. An accurate count of participants is needed.
Confirming by Monday, December 1, is most helpful. You are also reminded that
gathering together for this event constitutes a meeting and only items relevant to the
referenced purpose can be discussed.
