TO: PLANNING COMMISSION
FROM: CITY MANAGER
SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON MAY 20, 1969 AGENDA ITEMS
The following two items are on the May 20, 1969 Planning Commission agenda:
Lvndale Avenue Richt-of-Wav Acquisition.
The City Council has initiated a sidewalk construction project on the East
side of Lyndale Avenue from 67th Street South to the existing sidewalk. The
City Council has ordered the construction of this sidewalk after a public hearing
which was held at the April 14, 1969 City Council meeting.
A sketch is attached showing the small amount of right-of-way which must
be acquired for the sidewalk construction. It is recommended that the Planning
Commission make a recommendation to the City Council approving the acquisition
of this land for street right-of-way (sidewalk purposes).
Request for Special Use Permit for Mortuary Construction at 6437 Cedar Ave. So. "
Midwest Mortuary Service has been in their present location at 6441 Cedar
Avenue for several years, and presently holds a special use permit for their
operation at that address. They are now interested in constructing a new building
on the lot immediately north of their present facilities. The proposed new
building would be on the lot that is now presently being used for outside storage
of construction materials and miscellaneous items. The owners of these two adjacent
pieces of land will exchange property and upon construction of the new mortuary the
materials now stored outside will be stored in the building presently being used
by Midwest Mortuary.
There is a sketch attached which shows the proposed location of the building
and the off-street parking proposed for the facility. This sketch was originally
prepared for the property at 6441 but Midwest Mortuary is now requesting that the
same facility be approved for the property immediately to the north for 6437
Cedar Avenue So.
It is recommended that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council
the issuance of a special use permit for this facility.
Respectfully subm tied,
