Minnesota Statutes Chapter 205 governs the conduct of municipal elections. Section 205.02, Subd. 2 states that all City elections are governed by Chapter 205 as far as practicable. Section 205.185, Subd. 3 sets the date for canvassing any city general election as “between the third and tenth days after an election.” The provisions of Chapter 205 preempt the City Charter; therefore the canvassing of election results is scheduled in a Special Meeting.
