RESOLUTION NO. 12262
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MINNESOTA
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY TO ASSUME
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richfield (the “City”) has historically
assumed responsibility for conducting electrical inspections;
WHEREAS, electrical inspections have generally been conducted through the
electrical inspector contractor for by the City;
WHEREAS, due to the retirement of that contractor and the Minnesota
Department of Labor and Industry (“DoLI”) now providing full-time employees for
electrical inspections, City staff propose that the City allow DoLI to assume
responsibility for performing electrical inspections in the City; and
WHEREAS, to assume such responsibility, DoLI requires the City to document
this change and approves of the City doing so via resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agrees to authorize the Minnesota Department of
Labor and Industry to assume the responsibility for electrical inspections in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RICHFIELD, MINNESOTA AS FOLLOWS:
1.Effective as of November 1, 2024, the Minnesota Department of Labor and
Industry will conduct electrical inspections for all electrical permits applied for
in the City on or after that date.
2.Electrical inspections for electrical permits applied for prior to the Effective
Date shall be completed by the City electrical inspector.
3.City staff are authorized and directed to take such other actions as may be
needed to accomplish the intent of this Resolution.
