Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Easterwood at 6:59 p.m.
Approval of Minutes Motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the April 16 regular meeting. Approved, ayes all.
Action Items None
Discussion Items Lincoln Field Access Road Closure
Topitzhofer said that the neighborhood meeting, held just prior to the regular meeting, was attended by two neighbors. He said that several cars were parked in the gravel area that
links Grand and Pleasant Avenues. He said that the road will probably not be closed to cars at this time. Sharkey and Dietl said that they feel that the swing set was a well-used piece
of equipment and should remain for now. Topitzhofer said that the fence is too close to the set. Dietl suggested moving the swing set; Ness and Easterwood agreed.
Committee Reports Outdoor Pool Task Force
Topitzhofer reported that the pool project is on schedule; the architect has nearly completed the floor plan for the new bathhouse. He said that it was decided to not include a basement
in the bathhouse for the filter equipment. He said that the number of trees that will need to be removed is more than previously expected (far too large to move); he said that they’re
mostly white pines, which are undesirable near a pool.
Skate Park Task Force
Topitzhofer reported that a proposal has been submitted to Best Buy requesting sponsorship (possibly $100,000). He said that staff and others will be meeting with them to discuss the
possibilities. Vizecky offered to assist with the effort.
FOWL
Dietl reported that the FOWL Dinner was held on April 26 and was attended by 150 people.
Planning Commission
PC meeting cancelled. No report was given.
RCHSPC
Slocum provided the RCHSPC report.
Staff Reports Recreation Services
Topitzhofer reported on the following:
Frank White attended a meeting with representatives from the Richfield Girls Softball Assocation, who expressed some concerns about possible gender equity issues related to the facilities
that have been renovated around Richfield. Easterwood said that he agreed with Rick Jabs that he did not believe that inequity was intended, but that the facilities provided for girls
and boys should be examined and discussed. Topitzhofer said that options are very open for Lincoln Field when it is renovated.
An informal soccer field has been designated at Vets Park. Adults will be directed to play there to prevent wear and tear on the youth fields.
The City-Wide Garage Sale and the Senior Variety Show were very successful. Both events raise funds for the Inter-Council Fund, which will benefit the renovation of the Community Center.
Other
Adjournment Sharkey moved, seconded by Kritzman, to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
