Discussion Items Season and fees for the Pool: Devich explained staff has been looking at the history of the pool on a year by year basis. The season has been from early June through Labor Day. At the end of August, the attendance drops off dramatically and it is very difficult to staff. The Commission offered support to close the pool the end of August. Devich distributed a memo regarding increased fees for the pool. The Commission agreed these changes should be made. Devich distributed a council memo with a request from the Richfield Swim Club to reserve the pool July 10 through 12 for a swim meet. This meet is usually held in the indoor pool but since it will be under major renovation, it will not be available. This has been one of the busiest week ends of the summer for the pool for season pass holders and walk in visitors. Devich asked the Commission to recommend a policy regarding the rental of the pool. Motion by Sharkey to recommended the pool be used as intended, that pool patrons be allowed to swim during the times and hours the pool is open. Second by Scaglia. Since this is a community pool with no precedents set or restrictions for uses by outside organizations and with the outdoor season as short as it is, the Commission is in agreement, the pool should remain open for customers. Motion carried. Other discussion items will be postponed until the May meeting. Committee Reports Planning Commission: The improvement for Subway to have additional seating has been approved. The Candlewood Hotel project on 77th Street has been approved and the Soo Line restaurant project has been approved. Devich will put together a report on how Hat Trick Hockey is doing. Other Scaglia commented on the overlay on the tennis courts and basket ball courts at Sheridan Park looks awful. The lines are peeling and the contractor should be notified to rectify the situation.
