2016-06 Friendship City MinutesRichfield Friendship City Commission Meeting Minutes – June 16, 2016
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Chair, Ahmad Ansari.
Those in attendance: Ahmad Ansari, Mary Olafson, JoAnn Boraas, Dave Delzer, Rori Coleman-
Woods, Sharon Amegee, Pixie Pixler, Karen Shragg (staff liaison), Roger Swanson (former
member)
Absent, excused: Cynthy Mandl (ambassador)
Absent: Martin Kirsch
Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the May 19, 2016 meeting were approved as drafted.
Treasurer’s Report: Checking account balance was $3359.36 as of May 31 with reimbursement
of $388.34 to Cynthy Mandl for Costa Rica donations. A donation of $100 from Anne Romstad
to the RFCC was recently received and will be reported in the June accounting. Anne traveled
with the group to Costa Rica in March.
Old Business: Heredia Park Sculpture Report: tabled until Cynthy returns from Costa Rica.
RFCC Delegation to Arts Commission: Mary, Dave and Cynthy attended a recent Arts
Commission meeting and updated them regarding the sculpture, related issues, and future
dedication ceremony. A joint meeting will be scheduled when there is a confirmed date for
arrival of the sculpture. A subcommittee consisting of Mary, Cynthy, JoAnn, and 3 members of
the Arts Commission will be responsible for the sculpture dedication activities. Alexander Dahl
(Chair of the Arts Commission) and MaryKaye Champa are RFCC contacts.
Sun Current article: Ahmad will follow up with Andrew Wig on articles which RFCC
expects to have published in the Sun Current. The first will cover the delegation’s recent trip to
Costa Rica, with a later article regarding the dedication ceremony. Karen Shragg noted that city
staff are responsible for any “press releases.”
Bylaws for RFCC: Any changes in meeting day and time, or other matters, will be
further discussed at the July meeting.
New Business: Inventory of RFCC belongings: Items are currently stored in the Richfield City
garage, Heredia Room cabinet, lobby display cabinet, and individuals who may have historical
files, etc. A subcommittee headed by Mary and aided by Dave, Cynthy, and former member
Roger Swanson, will complete a list of the inventory by the end of 2016.
