Cannabis Substance Use and Prevention (CSUP) grant update
MDH requires grant recipients to follow the Strategic Prevention Framework which Jennifer will
attend a training on. Need to document activities for a 90-day work plan: Jennifer started filling
out the required documentation, met with Richfield Comms Mgr. and getting bids to website
vendors. Waiting to get back vendor bids - due date 5/20.
Part of the framework requirement is the need to assess the landscape to know where our
starting point is. Include other opportunities to talk to the community re: cannabis use. Talk to
citizens about what they know about cannabis, do they use it, what do they think of the law, etc.
We need to find out what the community wants on a website. Look to have our cannabis survey
completed by late July.
Potential locations/events to distribute the survey: Pizza with Police, City Pool, Farmer’s Market,
Muni Liquor stores, City Bella & other high rise buildings, Mini golf bulletin board, Augsburg
Library, City Hall/DMV, etc.
Connect w/health resource center before end of school year to get feedback from students.
Can utilize different survey forms (online, paper, etc.), RABH could have a table at the State of
the City (6/11).
Survey categories: safety, education, etc. Each member come up with questions and send to
Jennifer. Jennifer will pull them together and compile a draft for the next meeting. Jennifer will
pull an events calendar so we can coordinate delivering the surveys. Assign a QR code with
paper forms. Have Spanish translation for the survey. DUE Friday 5/9.
We have one contractor proposal that came in within budget (included a 1 yr and 3 yr option);
waiting for other proposals. Will have the proposals for the next committee meeting.
CSUP grant can be used for cannabis and opioid work, Bloomington hired a staff member for this
work. Jennifer will share Bloomington’s work plan.
Food Service Awards
This year: Broadway Pizza is the winner for Full Service; Dairy Queen at 16 E. 66th St. (near
Nicollet) won for fast food/cafeteria service.
Bloomington surveys Richfield restaurants twice per year plus any complaints.
Joint BER meeting 5/20 in Bartholomew room
Light dinner - taco bar at 5:45
Meeting 6 - 7:30
Penn Fest - 9/21 from 1-5pm, Jennifer will bring sign-up sheet for volunteers to next committee
meeting.
Lost COVID funding (~$500k) that was recalled, no further COVID work in BER. CDC
infrastructure grant for $152k that we do not have a decision on.
