Administrative Duties
● Call to Order - 7:02 pm

o Chair moved agenda item up in order to accommodate CSC Commission liaison’s
schedule
o Updates provided on Pool project, Ice Arena, Veterans Park path, Richfield Lake
maintenance plan, Nov. 7 Friends of Wood Lake fundraiser at MN Valley Country Club
($75/person), Oct. 26th Wood Lake Halloween Event, New playground at Donaldson
Park, Hiring PT staff at the Community Center (front desk/cleaning), Wood Lake building
project, and line-painting robot for soccer fields
● Branding and Placemaking Advisory Committee updates
There was a meeting on 10/1: focus group/survey results have resulted in 5 brand areas
of focus for the “downtown Richfield area.” 3 more meetings on the horizon will help set
the direction of the findings.
● City Council Presentation: Confirm date and preparations
o 10/28 7pm at City Hall, Aric will prepare the presentation
● Commission Applications: Process is open Oct. 1 - 31 Apply Here
o Jill will email commissioners who need to submit new applications
o Jill will check in with local HS art teachers to see if there are any potential youth
commissioners
● 2026 RAC officer position discussion: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary
o Aric encouraged RAC commissioners to consider open positions for 2026
2025 Previous Activities
● Recap: Art in our Community: Pride Roundabout maintenance
○ Consider purchasing more paint for next year (yellow and orange)
○ RAC will discuss purchasing paint at Nov. 2025 meeting for May 2026 painting
● Recap: Art in our Community: PennFest
○ RAC volunteers felt that the art zone was located in a quieter area of the event which
resulted in less foot traffic. RAC could consider relocating to city tents with other
commissions for the 2026 event. Could also consider bringing treats and temporary
tattoos back next year to entice more people to participate
○ Word Mural: Pre-Cut objects words worked better for a larger event. Will continue to fill
the word mural at events in 2026.
2025 Prioritized Activities
● Art in our Community: Great Pumpkin Giveaway - Sat., Oct. 11, 9:30 AM - Noon
○ Steph J will pick up supplies. BJ will have tables/cloths ready for the coloring area at the
event
○ Trophies are ready
■ RAC is considering a thank you card for trophy designer, Mike Karnas
○ Gift Card check-in
■ $20 gift cards will be purchased for the winners to hand out at the city council
meeting on Oct. 28, along with the trophies
○ Coloring sheet updates
■ Coloring sheet was created by Stephanie E., and it is ready for the event. Jill will
make 500 copies
● Art in our Community: Winter Decorating at the Community Center
○ RAC decided not to participate in winter decorating this year, since the venue has
changed
● Art in our Schools: Sheridan Hills
○ Family Craft Night - Fri. Oct. 24, 6-7:30 pm
○ PTO will provide craft, RAC will facilitate the activity
○ Steph J., Crystina, and Jill (maybe) will attend
● Art in our Community: Art Walk Brochure - Updates
○ Once the City’s new website is up and running, we can look at adding the brochure to
RAC ’s webpage
● Art in our Community: List of Local Artists
○ Jill will ask City officials about the possibility of creating this list
2026 Future Activities
● Art in our Schools: Richfield Dual Language School
○ Friendship Dance, February 6, 6-8 pm
○ Select project and order supplies by November meeting
■ Project idea: Glow masks with googly eyes, glow stickers, stick-on jewels
■ Aric will speak with RDLS parent contact to verify project is ok with their
committee
Ongoing Activities
● Little Free Library
o Filled in Sept. by Anny, Steph J. will fill in Oct.
o Book Drive: Hockey Arena in Winter, Community Center
▪ Boxes will be placed out for winter collection
o RAC plaque
▪ Aric will ask Mike Karnas if he is interested in helping RAC create a plaque for the
library and what it would cost.
o QR Code for brochures
▪ We will explore this in the future once the new website is established
● Art Display Updates: community center, city hall
o A student art display will be up in the Community Center soon
● Utility Box/Photo Contest Updates
o RAC is very interested in sponsoring the 2026 Photo Contest
o Rules: Photos must be taken in Richfield, 3 total submissions max., submit by June 1st,
all photographers are welcome, amateur/hobby photographers are encouraged to
submit their work
o Prize: Could consider gift certificates to local businesses, exhibit in community center or
on City socials/website
o Categories: Richfield Parks, Animals/Wildlife, People at Play, Architecture/Design, Youth
(open division)
Staff Update
● PennFest was an overall success - great attendance/positive event, businesses happy
● Parks and Rec is preparing for winter programs, Karl H. is out on leave in October
