2024-10 Arts Minutes (2) Attendance Stephanie Jacobson (co-chair), Aric Bieganek (co-chair), Janie Mork, Lucas Smith, John Blackshear, Ann Bieganek, Stephanie Eaton, Sharon Christensen (city council liaison), , Jill Murphy (City liaison) Administrative Duties ● Call to Order – 6:59 pm ● Approval of Agenda - Motion (Stephanie J), 2nd (Stephanie E), All in favor ● Approval of Minutes - Motion (Stephanie J), 2nd (Aric), All in favor ● Budget update - $807 remaining, still need to subtract approx. $15 from last event Previous Activities Updates ● Art in our Community: Penn Fest Recap – September 15th ○ Went great! We were located by the new art area. Went through a lot of temporary tattoos, and a lot of people took their drawings to go. Met a lot of people who want to collaborate. ● Art in our Community: Pride Roundabout Maintenance Recap ■ We only had enough paint for 1 coat of yellow and orange. Made a motion to use approximately $658 of remaining budget to buy 1 can each of green, purple, yellow, and orange paint. Stephanie J motioned, Lucas 2nd, all in favor. We will complete the 2nd coat of yellow and orange beginning at 7 AM on October 13th. 2024 Prioritized Activities ● Art in our Schools: Collaborating on Arts experiences with Richfield Schools ○ STEM ■ 2024-2025 school year ● Movie Night on October 25th: Inside Out 2 ● Aric motioned to spend up to $25 on supplies for this activity. Ann 2nd, and all in favor. We will purchase eyeball stickers and small paper plates to make emotion plate faces. Stephanie E will create emotion prompts. ○ Sheridan Hills - updates ■ 2024-2025 school year ● No updates ○ Middle School ■ Will be a focus in 2025 ■ No updates ○ Dual Language ■ May have interest in Feb 2025 event ■ No updates ● Art in our Community: Updating RAC materials – Updating/Innovating Art Walk Brochure ○ Aric will look for missing locations 2024 Additional Activities/Ideas ● Art in our Community: October 12th - Great Pumpkin Giveaway from 9:30 AM – 12 PM ○ RAC will provide volunteering from 9:30-Noon on 10/12 for coloring contest, will provide trophies for winners of three divisions (age groups). Made a motion (Aric) to purchase a $20 Michaels gift card for each of the 3 winners. Janie 2nd, all in favor. ● Art in our Community: November - Authors Event: Sat., Nov. 23rd, 3-5 pm ○ 13 authors signed up! Will cap at 15. ○ Authors are interested in short readings. Ann will create a schedule for 5 minute readings from each author. ○ Will have a bookmark creation activity. Aric motioned to spend approximately $12 on supplies. Stephanie J 2nd, all in favor. ● Art in our Community: December - Winter Planter Decorations ○ We will do this again this year, and Bonnie has offered to help. Stephanie E will reach out to Bonnie. ● Hennepin County Grant planning ■ This is most likely not going to happen. ● City Council Presentation ○ October 22nd at 7 PM ○ Aric and Stephanie J will present, all are welcome to attend. Ongoing Activities ● Little Free Library o Book Drive has been a success! Stephanie E will check the little library to see if more books are needed to fill it. ● Photo Contest/Electrical Box Wraps o Going to pause the photo contest for 1 year dur to lack of participation. ● Art Displays- community center, city hall o displays are going well, City is looking for submissions for Feb. 2025 and beyond. Will include a call out in the Winter brochure. Staff Update ● Main focus is on the sales tax and Woodlake initiatives. Share this info with your networks! ● Winter programming guide will be going out soon. ● Splash pad construction will be starting any day and will be open next year. ● Commission and board applications are now open.
