2024-09 Arts Minutes (2)Attendance Stephanie Jacobson (co-chair),Aric Bieganek (co-chair),Janie Mork,Lucas Smith,John Blackshear,Ann Bieganek,Sharon Christensen (city council liaison),BJ Skoog (Community Services Commission liaison), Jill Murphy (City liaison) Administrative Duties ●Call to Order -7:01 pm ●Approval of Agenda -Motion (Stephanie),2nd (Lucas),All in favor ●Approval of Minutes -Motion (Janie),2nd (John),All in favor ●Budget update -$904 remaining,still need to subtract cost of Farmer ’s Market expenditures for Aug.17 event Previous Activities Updates ●Art in our Community:Unity in the Community:August 15th recap ○Backpack keychain activity was enjoyable for kids and they were excited to put them on backpacks.Also made Swiftie-style bracelets.Used almost 3000 pony beads! ●Art in our Community:Summer 2024 Farmer ’s Market ○August 17th :Vegetable stamping recap ■Families made creative art with the vegetables,great experience to match the art to the vegetables and fruits they could purchase around them! 2024 Prioritized Activities ●Art in our Schools:Collaborating on Arts experiences with Richfield Schools ○STEM ■2024-2025 school year ●Ann emailed PTO,will follow up via Facebook ○Sheridan Hills -updates ■2024-2025 school year ●John will visit Sheridan school to inquire about collaboration ○Middle School ■Will be a focus in 2025 ○Dual Language ■May have interest in Feb 2025 event ●Pride Roundabout maintenance ○Sept.21-22 -rescheduled -6-8 am ○Orange and Yellow paint,City will provide other supplies ■Jill will coordinate with the City on the supplies ■Potential Schedule: ●Sat.9/21:Aric,Luke,Ann,Stephanie J,City ●Sun.9/22:Aric,Ann,Stephanie J.,Janie,Luke,John,City ●Art in our Community:Updating RAC materials –Updating /Innovating Art Walk Brochure ○RAC Public Art Catalog (List in Google Sheets) ○Moving to Sharepoint ○Discussion:next steps and potential launch date ■Aric showed the Sharepoint drive to commissioners.Jill will share a link for commissioners to log into account.RAC identified several public art installations that need further research on location,will complete photos by end of October. ●Art in our Community:September 15th -PennFest ○Completed form to collaborate with Art area ○Discussion:Activity ■RAC will be in art area on northside of event at 63rd and Penn,Aric will share details with volunteers prior to event. ■Project:Coloring sheets with City logo,PennFest logo,and RAC logo to draw your own PennFest experience;Also temporary tattoos ●Motion to spend $150 on supplies:Aric,2md:Stephanie J,All in favor ■Janie can provide a tent if City is unable to do so,Aric will get table from BJ, bring two additional tables and chairs -11:30 arrival with supplies ■Shifts:12:30-3:John,Steph J,Lucas;3-5:30:Ann,Aric,Janie 2024 Additional Activities/Ideas ●Art in our Community:October 12th -Great Pumpkin Giveaway ○RAC will provide volunteering from 9:30-Noon on 10/12 for coloring contest,will provide trophies for winners of three divisions (age groups),may consider a gift card prize in October meeting ●Art in our Community:November -Authors Event:Sat.,Nov.23rd,3-5 pm ○8 authors are signed up,1 more pending ○Authors are interested in short readings,need to plan a schedule ○Bookmarks -art activity for kids -review on Amazon for Oct meeting ●Art in our Community:December -Winter Planter Decorations ○Will consider in future meetings,City will gauge expectations ●Hennepin County Grant planning ○Idea 1:Mural -engaging with local youth to create a mural on Body Techs Rx Wellness building ■Mural would need to be on parking lot side of building,Aric will communicate this to business owner to gauge interest Ongoing Activities ●Little Free Library o Book Drive updates ▪Books collected,library is ⅓full,RAC members will deliver more books ●Photo Contest/Electrical Box Wraps o no updates ●Art Displays-community center,city hall o displays are going well,City is looking for submissions for Feb.2025 and beyond Community Services Commission Update ●No meeting in August,discussion on sales tax campaign for Richfield Parks and Wood Lake project ●Skate park expansion is complete,Hoops are down at Monroe park -Hoop Local fundraising will go toward new hoops Staff Update ●The City is focusing on equity for 2025 open commissioner position recruitment ●Fall programming has started and is going well Announcements ●None,meeting adjourned at 8:11 pm
