favor ●Budget update -$1500,spent $170,$387 on t-shirts,now $942 o Budget ideas:Arts-related city purchases/parks and rec;Supplies ●Supplies:Steph J will email Aric completed supplies list to add to shared drive ●City update:Sales Tax presentation o Our Legacy,Our Future:Benefits of the sales tax increase o $80m plan for reinvesting in the parks ▪Community Center -built 60+years ago -maintenance issues,minimal community gathering spaces,lack fitness space,roof issues,elevator -building awareness of the issues with the buildings,soundproofing,technology ▪Wood Lake Nature Center -built 60+years ago -no accessibility in bathrooms, rodent issues,hvac system aging,classes/education -don’t meet needs of community ▪Veterans Park -63-year old pool liner,53-year old ice arena,pool filtration and heating systems,ADA accessibility in arena,trails (potholes,roots),invasive species,bandshell built without gutters,roof for mini-golf building o Investment Plan ▪facility assessments,residents engaged ▪Plan to upgrade to a new Community Center,Wood Lake Nature Center,and improvements to Veterans Park o Financing ▪Approx.$80 million ▪Sales Tax would provide $65 million (0.5%cent raise) ●Collected from non-residents (55%)and residents (45%) ●If all 3 measures pass,could fund these projects for up to 20 years ●Once projects are finished,money stops being collected ●Passes:Planning/designs -2025,2026-2031 build out o Visit OurLegacyOurFuture.org for more info 2024 Activities Updates ○June 15th:Seed Bombs ■Rainy day:less attendance,community enjoyed it,adults,too ■Some leftover seeds provided to a playground activity at a Parks and Rec summer camp to use in season ○July 13th:Marble Painting ■Rainy day:but busy!Well-attended,no tent because of wind,but it was a great spot and lots of community members of all ages participated.Some kids made several paintings. ●Pride Roundabout maintenance ○June 15-16th -canceled/need to reschedule for Sept./Oct. ■Rainy weekend!Needs to get rescheduled ■Sept.21-22 -rescheduled -6-8 am ■City will provide supplies again ○Orange and Yellow paint 2024 Prioritized Activities ●Art in our Schools:Collaborating on Arts experiences with Richfield Schools ○STEM ■2024-2025 school year ■Anny will reach out to them in end of August when PTO gets started ○Sheridan Hills -updates ■2024-2025 school year ■John will reach out to to the principal in end of August when PTO gets started ○Middle School ■Karl/Jill will give co-chairs principal’s contact info ●Art in our Community:Updating RAC materials –Updating /Innovating Art Walk Brochure ○RAC Public Art Catalog (List in Google Sheets) ○Moving to Sharepoint for September meeting -Aric will provide update ■Deadline:End of October for all photos ○Discussion:next steps and potential launch date ■Have all the information for the website,so we can launch in Spring 2025 ●Art in our Community:Unity in the Community:August 15th -4-7 pm ○Signed up as a vendor ○Discussion:Next peppers,potatoes,corn,celery -up to $50;Stephanie -motion,Anny -2nd,All in favor ●Art in our Community:September 15th -PennFest ○Completed form to collaborate with Art area ■Penn Fest is working on grouping art-related vendors together ■Musical performers ■Possible RAC activity:community chalk art ■1-5 pm,2 shifts 12:30-3;3-5:30 -ideally 2-3 people at shift 2024 Additional Activities/Ideas ●Art in our Community:Illusion Theater update ○Illusion Theater provided RAC with a press release,will include with meeting minutes to spread the word to the community ●Art in our Community:October 12th -Great Pumpkin Giveaway ○Parks and Rec is supporting the event -Fairwood Park -Time TBD ■Activity:sugar skulls and pumpkin masks ●Explore Amazon,etc.for pumpkin masks -Anny will research ●Will need more jewels in September purchases ●Art in our Community:November -Authors Event:Sat.,Nov.23rd 3-5 pm ○Fall boutique is 2 dates,so not sharing the same weekend as fall boutique ○Start gathering authors ■Fall brochure -call for authors,also if you know someone,contact Jill ■Invite authors who came last year ○Having a couple of short readings during the event ●Art in our Community:December -Winter Planter Decorations ○Utilize community -are there any planter artists in the community? ○Ask Bachmans to donate time to help? ●Hennepin County Grant planning ○Idea 1:Mural -engaging with local youth to create a mural on Body Techs Rx Wellness building ○Youth Activities Grant:https://www.hennepin.us/youth-grants ○Recap:meeting with Body Techs Rx Wellness owner,Travis Pioske ○Applications for spring arts and music grants are available January 18 –April 1,2024 Ongoing Activities ●Little Free Library o Book Drive -going well at Wood Lake and Community Center ▪Aric took CC books and will fill the shelves ●Photo Contest/Electrical Box Wraps o No updates ●Art Displays-community center,city hall o No additional updates -filled for the year Community Services Commission Update -BJ was absent,no updates Staff Update ●Staff has been focusing on sales tax and providing info to community ●Summer programs going well,wrapping up ●Fall brochure is coming soon ●Skate park -new additions
