▪Community Center -built 60+years ago -maintenance issues,minimal
community gathering spaces,lack fitness space,roof issues,elevator -building
awareness of the issues with the buildings,soundproofing,technology
▪Wood Lake Nature Center -built 60+years ago -no accessibility in bathrooms,
rodent issues,hvac system aging,classes/education -don’t meet needs of
community
▪Veterans Park -63-year old pool liner,53-year old ice arena,pool filtration and
heating systems,ADA accessibility in arena,trails (potholes,roots),invasive
species,bandshell built without gutters,roof for mini-golf building
o Investment Plan

▪Plan to upgrade to a new Community Center,Wood Lake Nature Center,and
improvements to Veterans Park
o Financing
▪Approx.$80 million
▪Sales Tax would provide $65 million (0.5%cent raise)
●Collected from non-residents (55%)and residents (45%)
●If all 3 measures pass,could fund these projects for up to 20 years
●Once projects are finished,money stops being collected

2024 Activities Updates
○June 15th:Seed Bombs
■Rainy day:less attendance,community enjoyed it,adults,too
■Some leftover seeds provided to a playground activity at a Parks and Rec
summer camp to use in season
○July 13th:Marble Painting
■Rainy day:but busy!Well-attended,no tent because of wind,but it was a great
spot and lots of community members of all ages participated.Some kids made
several paintings.
●Pride Roundabout maintenance
○June 15-16th -canceled/need to reschedule for Sept./Oct.
■Rainy weekend!Needs to get rescheduled
■Sept.21-22 -rescheduled -6-8 am
■City will provide supplies again
○Orange and Yellow paint

○Illusion Theater provided RAC with a press release,will include with meeting minutes to
spread the word to the community
●Art in our Community:October 12th -Great Pumpkin Giveaway
○Parks and Rec is supporting the event -Fairwood Park -Time TBD
■Activity:sugar skulls and pumpkin masks
●Explore Amazon,etc.for pumpkin masks -Anny will research
●Will need more jewels in September purchases
●Art in our Community:November -Authors Event:Sat.,Nov.23rd 3-5 pm
○Fall boutique is 2 dates,so not sharing the same weekend as fall boutique
○Start gathering authors
