Brittany - consider city staff from representative populations to
receive proclamations if other community members have not been
identified

A. Event will not occur this year
B. Commission reviewed proclamation to be presented at May 28th
city council meeting

C. Sunday 9/15/2024, think of ideas for interactive activities at booth

A. Richfield Juneteenth Celebration
B. Essay Contest (Friday, April 12
Deadline)
A. Tyler and members of Juneteenth planning team will work on
proclamation
B. No entries received – table until the summer, revisit and look at
timing/incentives

G. Re-visit Legal Aid Clinic
Conversation
C. Suggestion from Dana to sponsor a book club featuring titles
relevant to commission priorities. Continue discussion next month,
suggested first book (The Sum of Us)
D. Commission reviewed entries and voted. Scott Ramsay will receive
the 2024 award. Tyler/Brittany to notify Scott. Karole will lead
planning for celebration, date TBD (June 25 or July 9, pending
recipient’s availability)
E. Next steps discussion at June meeting
F. No updates today
G. Suggestion to schedule in September following Penn Fest and
utilize the event for promotion. Tim will follow up with attorneys
who attended the previous clinic. Tiffany will lead promotion efforts
Announcements/Open Forum: Add Justice Department outreach efforts to agenda for June meeting
(Tim will have updates)
Request from Mayor Supple for HRC to table at State of the City
event (Tuesday 6/11 at 5pm). Tiffany and Valerie volunteered.
B will not attend next meeting, will conclude term as youth
commissioner
