The meeting was called to order by President Bruzek at 8:00 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING OF May 27, 2025
M/Frechette, S/Stratton to approve the minutes.
Motion carried 3-0.
Ill. UPDATE ON RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
Chief Brooks requested the commission remove the residency requirement early. The statute will expire in 2026, and the department would like to remove the requirement to be able to attract more candidates when recruiting.
Secretary Stratton hopes the crew members are happy about the removal and is looking
forward to how it will affect recruitment.
Chief Brooks stated the main concern is numbers for call back response and that it will
continue to be monitored.
IV.PROPOSED RECLASSIFICATION OF VACANT ASSISTANT CHIEF POSITION TODEPUTY CHIEF
Chief Brooks provided an overview of how the Assistant Chief (AC) positions have been
supporting the department and the need to meet evolving needs. She then provided the job
descriptions of each position.
Secretary Stratton asked if both AC positions needed to be altered or just the vacant one.
