CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Commission President Stratton at 8:00 a.m.. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING OF AUGUST 30, 2022. M/Stratton, S/ Bruzek to approve the minutes. Motion carried 3-0. III. VACATE CURRENT FIRE CAPTAIN PROMOTION ELGIBILITY LIST M/Stratton, S/Bruzek to vacate the current Fire Captain promotion eligibility list. Motion carried 3-0 IV. APPROVAL OF THE FIRE CAPTAIN AND LIEUTENANT PROMOTION ELGIBILITY LIST Firefighter Wienholz expressed appreciation for combining the processes. President Stratton thanked everyone for the discussions around the new and improved process. She then read both the Captain and Lieutenant Register: Last Name First Name Rank O’CONNELL KEVIN 1 EWALD JOSEPH 2 HALASKA JOSEPH 3 The above register for the Fire Captain position is hereby approved. Last Name First Name Rank WIENHOLZ BRIAN 1 ZISKOVSKY MIKE 2 WATCZAK MARK 3 BROWN NATE 4 The above register for the Fire Lieutenant position is hereby approved. M/Stratton, S/Bruzek to approve top three names on the Captain and Lieutenant registers. Motion carried 3-0 V. OTHER BUSINESS President Stratton spoke of the current commissioner recruitment and that she will be pursuing another term but will be passing on the presidency spot. She also discussed the annual update that she will be providing on November 9 to the City Council. Vice President Bruzek asked about the water waste that occurs during Penn Fest with allowing kids to spray the fire hose connected to the hydrant. Chief Dobesh stated the department is currently looking at alternate nozzle options to restrict flow, along with other activity options to present during the event. Assistant Chief Chwialkowski spoke of how the nozzles are not pressurized to full flow during the event. The department would like to reduce water waste while still offering entertainment for children. President Stratton stated the importance of having those interactions and encourage possible future firefighters. VI.
