The meeting was called to order by Commission President Stratton at 8:00 a.m.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING OF DECEMBER 4, 2020.
M/Stratton, S/ Bruzek to approve the minutes.
Motion carried 3-0.
III. CERTIFY THE FIRE CHIEF ELIGIBILITY ROSTER
City Manager Rodriguez described the interview with Assistant Chief Mike Dobesh took place on Monday, December 14, 2020 for the Fire Chief position with herself, Human Resources Manager Guzman and Assistant City Manager Dmytrenko with observance by President Stratton. She explained why she made her decision to support the promotion of Assistant Chief Dobesh. She also consulted with Fire Chief Kewitsch on the choice. President Stratton then read the following:
The examination of candidates to establish the Fire Chief Eligible Register has been completed. One candidate applied, who did meet the applicable criteria and thus the candidate participated in
the examination process. The process took place December 14, 2020 and consisted of a review of the candidate’s application, background and experience and a panel interview. The results were tabulated and then reviewed by the Human Resources department for accuracy.
This list consists of the candidate in rank order. This eligible roster will be effective until date of hire, unless extended or canceled by the Civil Service Commission.

OTHER BUSINESS President Stratton discussed how this year has been incredibly difficult with the challenges of the pandemic. She thanked all firefighters and first responders for everything they have done and continue to do each day. She then wished Fire Chief Kewitsch well on his future endeavors and congratulated Assistant Chief Dobesh on completing the interview process and is hopeful he will be the new Fire Chief. V.
