The meeting was called to order by Commission President Stratton at 8:02 a.m.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING OF AUGUST 31, 2020.
M/Stratton, S/ Bruzek to approve the minutes. Motion carried 3-0.
III. APPROVAL OF THE FIRE CAPTAIN PROMOTION ELIGIBILITY ROSTER PROCESS
Assistant Fire Chief Dobesh reviewed the promotion eligibility process. He stated there had been conversations with all three shifts regarding the process and feedback was collected and discussed. M/Stratton, S/ Bruzek to approve the Fire Captain promotion eligibility roster process.
Motion carried 3-0. IV. OTHER BUSINESS
Assistant Fire Chief Dobesh gave a brief update on Fire Chief Kewitsch. He stated how the Fire Chief is doing well, recovering and hoping to get his license back at the end of the month. President Stratton stated the commission wishes him a strong recovery. She asked for an update on the Battalion Chief and other promotions that have occurred.
Assistant Fire Chief Dobesh spoke of how well Battalion Chief Wood is doing in her new position and has taken on a lot of responsibilities. He then stated Tim Haider and Alex Crofford will be starting their new positions Monday of Captain and Lieutenant respectively.
President Stratton congratulated all recent promotions and is looking forward to what they can
do for the department and the community.
Assistant Fire Chief Dobesh added the process for the Fire Captain Eligibility roster will not take place until January due to calendar conflicts.
President Stratton reviewed she will be giving a presentation at the December 8th City Council meeting regarding an annual report for the Civil Service. She also thanked Assistant Fire Chief Dobesh for his continued leadership during these difficult times along with all the firefighters and the tremendous work they continue to do for the City of Richfield. (The annual report was
later moved and give at the November 24, 2020 City Council meeting).
