New member

Kevin Klos RAC members introduced ourselves to new member,
Linda Vigen. We told members our names, current jobs,
and the most embarrassing television show we enjoyed.
Report from City
Liaison
MaryKaye
Champa
•MaryKaye is having trouble keeping books in
stock for the free library.
•Now accepting donations from around the city
from city employees.
•MaryKaye is attempting to keep an inventory of
books, collecting them, and storing them in her
office.
•Looking for possibilities to collect more books as
there is a high demand.
•MaryKaye talked about Dan and his father going
to purchase materials for the free library.
•Kevin discussed Grey Duck Tattoo painting the
libraries and giving the libraries away at Penn
Fest.
•MaryKaye mentioned the Richfield Photo Contest.
•About 60 participants.
•Dan and Alex to meet with Nick Thompson to
judge photos.
•MaryKaye to try and arrange time to showcase the
artwork in one of the art venues in Richfield.
•Talked about donating gift cards as contest prizes.
•MaryKaye discussed the upcoming tie dye event
at RAC at the market. Using a Captain America
theme.
•Talked about no-flow to paint a star on a tie dye
shirt.
•MaryKaye bought small frames at Michael's for
"Picture This" at Penn Fest.
•MaryKaye saw the RAC announcement in the
inside cover of Richfield Recreational Services
and wanted to get A Penn Fest ad in.
•MaryKaye wanted to get the space, the same
corner as last year, for Penn Fest.

Lettering on the Art
Center
Kevin Klos •Kevin mentioned that the old signage at the Art
Center had been removed. The new sign had
been painted and he shared a photo of the work. It
was painted by Signs by Tomorrow and features
the words Richfield Arts Commission and the RAC
logo. Kevin got it done for an exceptional price.
Penn Fest
(September 21
Kevin Klos •Penn Fest will be held Sunday, September 21th.
•Plan to discuss mural on the Lariat Lanes building
with someone from Lariat Lanes at Penn Fest.
•Activities to include, "Picture This", spin art, and
drawing for two free little libraries.
•Discussed possibility of hiring a face painter for
event.
•Discussed possibility of bands playing at event.
Kevin to give info for Alex's band playing at Penn
Fest.
•Will look into members of Cracked Walnut to
perform.
•Dan to call Andon Balloons to determine if they
were using a balloon artist at event, if so this
might be something the RAC might want to do.
Dan to also call Cracked Walnut about performing.
Teen Art Show Kevin Klos •There is a new youth librarian in charge of the
show, Laura.
•The reception is Monday, November 24th at 6:30
PM.
•Art is due Nov. 2nd through Nov. 8th.
•Dan, Kevin, Lisa and possibly Alex volunteered to
judge. Judging Nov. 25th at 10 AM.
•Works will be hung in the library Monday, Nov.
10th, so we will need volunteers.
Richfield Wine
Tasting Event
Kevin Klos •Kevin wanted to get RAC presence are event.
Kevin to talk with Gordan, MaryKaye to talk with
city council.
•Wine tasting event possibly Thursday, October
9th. No info on website.
Fundraiser for
Bandshell
Kevin Klos
and Pete
Dysart
•RAC asked to be involved in fundraiser for the
bandshell, Oct. 5th, from 2-5, at the Richfield
High School.
•David Butler is trying to organize the event.
•MaryKaye is getting involved with the dance team.
•Try to get people to Pete who would use the
bandshell and get people to come to the event.
Pete to get info for Rally Around the Bandshell at
bandshell meeting.
June and July RAC
at the market
review
Kevin Klos •Discussed June event, book promotion and
kindness coins, and July event, "Hats Off for Dad".
•Kindness coins were plaster coins decorated and
meant to be given to someone seen doing a good
deed.
•The author, Meghan Meuli was excited about the
new changes in the RAC and was happy about
the experience. She was very thankful.
•Hats Off for Dad was successful, lots of kids with
their fathers.
•Both events were considered big successes.

Theatre in the Park
review.
Kevin Klos •The Cromulent Shakespeare Company held
several plays around Richfield. Word was put
out on our Facebook page.
•There were large crowds esp. on their Sunday.
•One Saturday was rained out, the company got
the word out fast that it was cancelled.
•MaryKaye said the leader of the company, Helen,
was pleased, felt it would be back.
•In Feb., contact Helen about events for next year.
August RAC

Kevin Klos •Tie dye event.
•Event from 9:30 - 11:30 AM, August 9th.
•Kevin got an ad in the Sun Current about event.
•MaryKaye got stencils for no-flow paint, including
a heart, star and a flower.
Posters on Board Alex •No word from Posters on Board.
•Possibly dropping it as it was mentioned in
previous meetings that a June deadline would be
imposed and conversations would be dropped
until further notice.
RAC circuit
Artwork
MaryKaye •Pete to email possible candidates for displaying
artwork.
•Call for anybody who knows artist able to display
artwork.
•Willie to try and get some artists.
Veterans Park
playground
Michelle •Michelle mentions article in the Sun Current about
new playground.
•Construction starts in September after kids go
back to school.
Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at around 9:15 PM
