now. Lisa may have some of her art available now that art fair season is wrapping up
RAC Events- Larry- The event on August 12th was very well attended with a good mix of kids and adults. The next event after that will be October 14th from 9:30 AM- 11:30 AM the theme
will be edible art and will need a few commission members to help out.
Little Library- Larry- We currently have a good number of kids books but could use more books for young adults and older. Friends of Augsburg Park Library are holding a book sale on
September 9th. Larry suggested that funds of $25 be made available from the Arts Commission budget so he could purchase books. There was not enough members present to vote on this but
it was suggested the he buy the books and payment could be discussed at the October meeting.
Poetry Reading- no report leaving it on the agenda for now
Penn Fest- Karen- Penn Fest will be Saturday September 17th from 12-4. We will have a booth along with the Health and the Human Rights Commissions. There will be trivia and we decided
to do sidewalk chalk as well. Karin will be sending an email with times for people to sign up and help.
Shakespeare in the Park- is done until next year. Keeping on the agenda for now.
Staff Report-Marykaye- We currently have openings for two youth members as well as two adult members. The city manager is aware of our openings and is actively recruiting new members.
The dance group is going well and would be open to involvement from commission members if we were interested.
New Business: Electrical Box Wrap- Victoria Prebix from Interstate Development was at the meeting to ask for commission members help in finding an artist who would be doing an electrical
box wrap at the new Plaza 66 development. The development and the electrical box are not in place yet but they were hoping we could help them find someone by the end of September. We
told Victoria that our next meeting would not be until October 5th and we would not be able to decide on an artist prior to that We did say that we could put word out through different
channels and hopefully review art work and pick an artist at our October meeting. Victoria agreed and said she would be back at our October meeting to help review artist submissions.
The commission also made suggestions on ways to tweak the RFP that Interstate is putting out.
