Upcoming and On Going Commission Activities
4th of July event‐ Mia‐ Reached out to Human Rights Commission about doing a joint activity during the
4th of July Celebration. She has not heard back yet.
Art Display‐ Mia‐ The display case at City Hall will be full through the end of the year. There will be a
small gap in the display at the community center but there will be art up this summer.
Entertainment in the Park‐ Still need members to represent the arts commission at upcoming summer
Entertainment in the Parks events. Karin and Grace said they would be willing depending on schedule.
RAC Events‐ Larry‐ Arts Commission sponsoring events at the Farmers Market on June 10th and August
12th from 9:30 AM‐ 11:30 AM .Larry suggested a third event be added for October 14th. The Arts
Commission would be responsible for planning this event
Friendship Commission‐Alex/Sarah‐ There will be a sculpture dedication for the Heredia sculpture on
June24th from 2‐4 at Heredia Park There artist will be there and there will be refreshments. Also looking
at putting together some type of artist meet and great with other artists and community leaders as part
of the dedication.
Little Library‐ Larry‐ Grace is getting donation of books. Larry stopped by the Little Library and noticed it
was about half full. He will fill the library in a few weeks.
Poetry Reading‐ Grace agreed to take this on.
Penn Fest‐ Still looking for someone to take this on. Will keep it on the agenda for now
Pints and Painting‐ Heather‐ Heather has reached out to Wild Mind brewery. They are open to the idea.
Still need to find an artist who would teach the class and pick a date.
Richfield Recreation Photo Contest‐ Heather‐Judging for the photo contest will take place at 5pm on
Wednesday August 2nd at the community center. Karin and Mia agreed to help with the judging
Shakespeare in the Park‐There will be three performances, 6/4 at 2pm, 6/15 at 7PM and 6/24 at 7pm.
Just need someone to represent the commission if they are able at these events. Alex and Grace may
have time to do it.
Social Hour for Artists‐Heather‐ First even was at Houlihans on April 19th.About six people attended. The
next one will be May 17th at Houlihans from 5‐7pm
Richfield Foundation Wine and Cheese Fundraiser‐ Sarah/Mia‐ Mia reached out to the Richfield
Foundation but has not heard anything yet.
Expansion by vendor at the Art Center‐ Jim Topitzhofer‐ Jim reported that the vendor at the Art Center
wants to expand his business into Art Center space. The expansion would not affect programing this
year. Materials could be stored at the Community Center and the Little Library would be moved to the
Community center as well. Summer RAC events could be held outdoors in the Farmers Market space.
Commission members agreed that the current Art Center space is underutilized and approved of the
expansion.
Motion to extend meeting‐ Heather‐ At 8pmHeather made a motion to extend the meeting until 8:15
PM. The motion was approved.
Staff Report‐ Marykaye‐Looked into T shirt design. It was decided to keep the current logo design.
Marykaye also reported that Marta Weirich has resigned from the commission. She did not feel she had
time for the activities. Marykaye also reported that there are no new developments on the 66th street
project at this time.
