Halloween Event
The Halloween event took place at Morris Nielsen Funeral Home on October 19th. The event went very
well. Over 100 kids were there. Had to get more candy because we ran out. It is an event we may do
again next year.
City Council Presentation
Mia and Joyce will give a RAC presentation to the City Council on November 26th. It will be a 2‐5 minute
presentation summing up what RAC has done the past year. Some for the presentation included tlking
about poetry on 66th street and the summer poetry event, the Trunk n Treat event, Little Library,
electrical box wrap, teen art fair, keeping both the display at community center and city hall full and the
coming pool mural. All RAC members are encouraged to show up and support Mia and Joyce as they
present to the city council.
RAC Winter Efforts
The next meeting will be February 6th. Poetry flyers are done and are being put out for a soft opening.
Karin brought flyers to the schools. Deadline for poems is February 14th. Poems can be submitted in
other languages such as Spanish but some characters might not be able to be sandblasted.
Little Library
The library is doing well in its new location. We will need more books in the future but it is okay for now.
Richfield Arts Fund
Pool mural is funded for next year. Hopefully will have in it this spring before the pool opens. Looking
into RFP process and deciding if we want to see an over view of artists work or if we can interview and
talk to artists as part of process.
Also we would still like to develop a long term plan for RAC and art in the city. Amy seems open to a long
term plan but that is still being worked out.
Farmers Market RAC event
In the past RAC has done a Halloween themed art event for families at the Farmers Market in October. It
was decided with everything else the commission has done this year that we would not do a Farmers
Market Event this year.
RAC Member Status
Tom has resigned from the arts commission due to moving out of state.
Mia is up this year. That makes two adult seats and one youth slots to fill going into next year.
Staff Report
RAC was asked by another group if we would be willing to help paint crosswalks in Richfield for Pride
week. There seems to be a lot of interest in partnering on this.
Electrical box on 70th and Nicollet wrapped. There is the possibility of two more boxes being wrapped
next year.
Announcements
