Sidewalk Poetry –We have the final 20 Poems ready to go. There will be 20 poems installed on 66th in
2019 and 30 in 2020. 10 poems will be put in on the east side and 10 in the west side this year. The
remaining 30 will go in the middle in 2020.
It was decided that we would stick with doing just poems in this round and save our two special symbols
for the next round going in 2020.
Winners will be notified by April 22nd. Mia and Joyce will put together letters for both those selected and
not selected.
There will be an event from 9‐11 on July 13th celebrating the poetry installation. The event will be at the
band shell and will include a welcome and recognition of those selected. Each winner will read their
poem. There will also be remarks from RAC and other officials
There was some discussion of having music at the event as well.
There will be a display of the poems as well as a table for activities for kids.
Elections‐
Mia and Joyce were elected as co‐chairs again and Larry was elected as secretary once again.
Little Library‐ The Richfield Rotary club is donating a new Little Library to RAC. The library will be bigger
and be solar lit. The plan is still to move the library to the garden at the band shell.
The Rotary will be doing an event at the old art center on May 11th putting together little libraries to give
away. RAC members are welcome to stop by and help out that day.

Marykaye has done some asking about the mural project and the money that $10,000 that had been
added for the project. The money had been added to the Public Works budget but due to staff turnover
in various parts of the city people had to be informed what the money was for.
There have been some concerns raised about using the money for a mural under the 35W bridge on
66th. Concerns include needing to get an okay from the department of transportation, upkeep and how
much could be done under the bridge for $10,000
It was decided a better option would be to do a mural on the city pool in Vets Park.
Arts commission members did not object but did have questions such as what happens if there is money
left over after the mural is completed on the pool. Can we use left over money for other projects? Can
any left over money be carried over to 2020? Were other options discussed? Marykaye will see what she
can find out and hopefully have more information at the next meeting.
Adjourned at 8:40pm
