Augsburg Library Project
Janie, Mia, Karin and Joyce met with Augsburg Park Library about their grant proposal. The library
received a grant to do workshops around cooking, quilting, self‐portrait, and music/dance. Workshops
will go into the summer.
The library has asked RAC to help them find a photographer who would document the project. The
photographer would be paid for their time. RAC members will help get the word out.
Teen Art Fair
Augsburg Park Library will be holding its annual teen art show. They have approached the library about
sponsoring and or providing refreshments and maybe a prize. It is not clear if the library wants RAC to
also judge the contest.
In past years the commission has provided a prize but were also judges for the art show. We may be
willing to provide refreshments, but members seemed to feel we should be involved in the judging if we
are going to provide a prize. Joyce is going to contact the library to get more information about judging
and whether RAC will be invited to be judges for the art show.
Poetry Contest/66TH Street
The rest of the meeting was spent looking at the poems that were submitted for this round of the 66th
street poetry project. Commission members ranked 20 youth and 20 adult poems
Members decided that we agreed with most of the submissions that we were given to look at but had
questions about poems #20, #17 #23 in the adult category and #63 and #74 in the youth category.
There are a few poems that were selected but we will need to reach out to the author to clarify spelling
and grammatical choices
There were also some questions about how many total poems we could select but we went with 20 in
each category for now.
Adjourned at 8: 51pm.
Respectfully Submitted by Larry Nelson, RAC Secretary
