Call to order at 7:13 p.m.
The commission did not have a quorum, so no voting occurred.
Approval of Agenda
Approval of Minutes
Chase Bank Sculpture
There is space for public art by the new Chase Bank on 66th and Lyndale. No update or outreach from Chase Bank on plans.
Pride Circle
Project occurred on roundabout by Lyndale Avenue by 66th Street near McDonalds and the VFW in September. Minor fixes needed due to a tire mark on the paint, though that has been fixed.
Public feedback has been largely positive.
Penn Fest
Occurred September 19. RAC hosted a table at the event and gave away butterflies and fans. RAC member received positive feedback about the utility boxes and sidewalk poetry.
Senior Showcase for High School Students
An art teacher from reached out to Mary Kaye Champa regarding an art showcase for graduating high school students. Could occur at the community center in the spring, with artwork on
the wall with the reception. Larry Nelson said he would reach out to arts teacher to define the event and discuss timing.
Community Service and Friendship City update
No updates.
2021 Activities
Little Library </w:t></
Donations still needed. Have one box left to stock little library. Little library was vandalized by someone, who cut the cord to the solar light box. Mary Kaye Champa will contact
the Rotary< or work with the city to fix.
</w:t></wTrunk or Treat and Dogs Take the Stage
Trunk or Treat scheduled October 16, 4-7 p.m. at the Morse Nielsen Funeral Home. RAC will host “Dogs Take the Stage” at 5:30 p.m. at the Richfield Bandshell. Eight dogs have registered;
registration will be available through event day. RAC will table, MC and decorate at the event. Mia Simpson will help recruit a photographer.
Staff Update
$1025 left in budget.
Request for proposals have been advertised for two art installations at the Home Depot and multi-family housing development. Open concept for ideas.
RAC city council presentation November 23.
Several RAC members had a discussion with the Minnesota State Arts Board about the city of Richfield, community efforts and COVID-19 impacts. RAC reported no negative impacts on funding
related to COVID.
Last meeting of the year November 4.
Announcements
Recreation Department received two awards from the MRPA for virtual programming and dog park.
Crossroads Panorama will present Scroogetta November 12-14. Aric Bieganek will play two roles in the play. See the CRP website for details.
Looking for local artists to display artwork in city hall display case and community center lobby.
