May Meeting Minutes:
Call to Order – 7:05 PM
Present: Stephanie Kopp, Janie Mork, Larry Nelson, Sharon Christensen, Aric Bieganek, Joyce, Karl Huemiller, BJ Skoog

Earth Day Activity Recap (April 23rd at Woodlake Nature Center)
Event went well! Aric collected natural art materials ahead of time for the activity of creating art pieces made out of those materials.
Arik will make a Google Drive with photos from the event to share.
This would be worth doing again next year. One item to note is that it would have been more signage to direct participants to come inside for more activities.
Art Show for High School Seniors (May 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Community Center)
Will provide punch/lemonade and cookies
RAC Farmers Market Events
June 10th: Decorate Your Bike theme – Aric will lead this event. Idea is to create tassle handlebars with streamers, etc. Playing cards, Mirrored paper reflectors, Beads (spokes), reflective
tape, and stickers to helmets were brainstormed project ideas. Aric, Larry, and Joyce should be able to attend.
July 15: Create prints using imperfect fruit/veggies cut into shapes. Stephanie, Janie, Aric and Larry should be able to attend.
Aug. 12: Farmer’s Market Week – there will be music and a book reading happening on this day. Discussed making this activity State Fair themed, such as seed art.
Larry motioned to spend up to $100 on additional supplied. Aric seconded All in favor.
Review Photo Contest
There will be 1 box wrapped, with the potential of more. The committee voted and chose winners in each category at the end of the meeting.
Juneteenth Activity (June 17th from 12 PM – 4 PM at the bandshell)
Committee discussed and decided not to have a booth/activity at this event due to several other events happening this summer. Will attend as volunteers to help at the event, in 2 shifts
(11 AM – 2 PM and 2 PM – 5 PM). BJ will provide more details as the planning continues.
Friday and Saturday Fun (July 21st at Augsburg Park)
Discussed and decided not to participate this year due to other events happening this summer.
Little Library
The little library has been repaired and is stocked with a good number of books! Will look into getting the info of who repaired it so we can send a thank you.
Updating RAC brochure
Artwork has been added in the city since the brochure was last printed, so it’s time to update. Karl will work on contacting the previous designer. Goal is to have this updated in June.
Discussed idea of having a virtual link to the artwork in the city.
Community Services Commission Update - BJ Skoog
There is a lot happening! Making repairs and updating playgrounds, discussions around the skate park and bike park continue, approval of new FOWL member, most of the summer positions
for the city have been filled.
Mural Celebration (August 19th from 6 PM – 8:30 PM at Galaxy Foods)
BJ will provide more details as planning continues.
CrossRoads Panorama event (September 16th from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
Joyce will provide more details as planning continues.
PennFest- September 17th
Vendor registration links should be out this month.
Bike Park Event -September ?
No new info this month other than updates from CSC Liaison
Dogs Take the Stage (October 14th at Dog Park)
Will discuss more as time gets closer
Author Event
Discussed planning this for November 18th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Community Center.
Discussed having readings by authors every ½ hour. Karl will reach out to known authors.
Brainstorm event names for the June meeting.
Art Displays- community center, city hall
Ricardo Perez is a local artist Will reach out to him to see if he would like to display his work.
Other items:
Karl will find out if we need to update our commission’s bylaws, as it has been awhile since this has been done
