Call to Order 7:02pm Larry Nelson presiding

Approval of Agenda: LN mo?on to approve, J. Mork second. Approved by unanimous vote

August RAC Farmers Market Events recap
Event well received, loca?on under the shelter was good. For next year plan to have
something to put the ink stained vegetables on as to not stain the tablecloths.
Mural Celebra:on recap
AB reports the event was fun. BJS reported the event started slow but was a posi?ve
event. One of the plaques from the mural needed to be reaPached with tape and the
owner will monitor for repairs as needed.
Penn Fest
September 17th- Partnering with other org or will have our own table. Loca?on will be
just south of 69th on east side. Will be near the Parks and Rec. table so they can help if needed.
AB suggested using the leW over bike craWs for a craW. AB and SJ will plan to staff event. Karl to
bring table and chairs.
Li=le Library
LN noted the library is 1/2 full. SJ has made drop offs and LN suggested asking people
to donate books at upcoming author event.

Community Services Commission Update
Richfield Arts Commission (RAC) Agenda
September 7th, 2023, 7 :00 PM to 8:30 PM
Richfield Community Center 7000 Nicollet
BJS: No mee?ng last month. Bike park, Donaldson park survey open un?l 9/10., Skate
park renova?ons, proposal for a velodrome -but s?ll in the early stages. RFP in the works for
Woodlake,
Pain:ng Pride Roundabout
Sherwin Williams bucket of paint is $180. Public works would not get a bePer deal. PW
recommended wai?ng un?l spring to paint. BJS offered to ask the Sherwin Williams on Penn to
see if the manager will give a discount since he worked with them for the mural paint. J. Mork
will verify which colors need to be repainted and Karl will verify with BJS how much we will
need.Karl will look into paint storage. - PW might be able to store in the heated garage.
Other Upcoming Events/ Ac:vi:es
Dual Language School is having a fall family fun night on 9/22 and is asking if RAC can be
involved or host a craW..Consensus is that RAC would love to collaborate in the future but the
Sept. date will not work for any members.
Brochure - Karl will send out a list and RAC will verify loca?ons and have an online version; also
would like to map the poems as well. Suggests nota?ng in the new brochure that the sculpture
garden is on private property.
MSV Poetry event - Karl reports it was a well received event. MSV will come back to fix the
missing bolts on some of the placards
Dogs Take the Stage -at dog park October 14th 5-6:30pm
Now ?tled Bark in the Park at Roosevelt dog park. LeWover supplies in closet; Parks will supply
dog and human treats.and have tables and tents. Will put on social media to promote event.
Encourage people to dress up as well as the dogs. Suggested that RAC purchase extra costume
hats for par?cipants to use.
Author Event- November 18th
Five authors lined up, RAC will ask for book dona?ons for LiPle Library, free event in the
Richfield Room. Bou?que ends at 2pm so will have ?me to set up. Look into using other rooms
for talks or Q&A sessions. Proposed craW of book covers. Possible refreshment provided by RAC
as well.
2024 Farmers Market ideas
Paper bag puppets, suggested to purchase solid white canvas to have in stock. Tex?le or
yarn craW, large felt embroidery, felt pennants, Proposed 3 events, one per month in June, July
andAugust.
Electrical Box Wraps
Photos sent to Public worksW for 1 or possibly two wraps. Loca?on TBA. Karl will
update with dates.
Art Displays- community center, city hall
Next ar?st wants to open on 9/14. Scheduled out through next May. City Hall s?ll using
the ships.
Staff Update
Plan to host photo contest. Will include RAC in the judging. Illusion Theater donated $100 to
RAC from pass the hat. City Council update scheduled for 10/24 7pm.
