Penn Fest September 17th- Recap
Combining with Rec table was helpful and worked well. Tent was an advantage. Lots of kids
stopped by to color cards and was well received. KH asked RAC feedback about the event in
general. Overall a posiGve experience. SC thought north of 66th could be more compact, tables
closer together. Great events and performances and food. LN added that it would be nice to see
more groups involved to fill in spaces between businesses north of 66th.
Bik Park Event: Event will be Tues. October 12th 5-7pm. There will be music, food, three rivers
tent, Park&Rec tent, bike stores tent, giveaways. Ribbon cuXng at 5:15pm Ben Whalen from
City Council will aYend.
Bark in The Park -October 14th
Corrinn will staff event and bring all supplies. S.Jacobson, J. Mork, A.Bieganek and K.Wolverton
plan to aYend. Arrive between 4:15-4:30 to help set up. Karl will email Aric about hats to dress
up and music/speakers. Treats will be provided by Parks&Rec. Polaroid camera available for
photos as well. BJ suggested talking to Kelsey at Chamber of Commerce to have a poster at
Trunk or Treat and pumpkin giveaway. Also suggested flyer/poster at the Farmers Market.
Reminder to RAC to wear RAC shirts.
Council PresentaEon -October 24th 7pm
Aric will make powerpoint to use. Must be in by Tuesday Oct. 16th.Submit to K.Huemiller,
L.Nelson and A.Bierganek will present. All welcome to aYend.
PainEng Pride Roundabout
Richfield Arts Commission (RAC) Agenda
October 5th, 2023, 7 :00 PM to 8:30 PM
Richfield Community Center 7000 Nicollet
BJ.Skoog reached out to Sherwin Willimans on Penn. Paint is a special order so they would reach
out to the manager of Bloomington store to see if they can manage a discount. Yellow is highest
priority, followed by green. BJS suggested SW might be able to donate brushes. S.Jacobson said
the last Gme was a touchup and the biggest problem was cement erosion/crumbling and
pockmarks to paint in. Public Works has asked to wait to repaint in spring. RAC will purchase
paint this year for budget reasons.
LiHle Library
L.Nelson checked and seems to be in good condiGon and sufficiently stocked. S.Jacobson noted
that plows tend to make the library inaccessible during the winter. K.Heumiller will f/u with
Public Works.. Discussion about moving it nearer to the bandshell by a sidewalk. Use author
event to promote a book drive for the library.
Community Services Commission Update
Bike park celebraGon, Amy Markle farewell celebraGon OCt. 10th cake at Woodlake Nature
Center 3-4:30pm, Oct 13th happy hour at Nine Mile Brewery. Splashpad construcGon will start
soon. Skate park expansion next spring. Goal to have it done by the end of May. WhiteCaps
are no longer playing at Rfld Ice arena and will not use us as pracGce facility. New hockey
training facility. 2 parks will be updated in 2024. Woodlake half haunted coming up and will
require prepurchase of Gckets which are almost sold out. Cannabis rules in the works, most
likely will follow tobacco rules.
Other Upcoming Events/ AcEviEes
J.Marie suggested to have a celebraGon at Nov. meeGng for outgoing members. Consensus on
Pot luck style snacks/treats. Author Event- November 18th

8 authors will parGcipate. K.Heumiller will add book donaGon drive to the flyer and will send
out email regarding Gmes and details. Event in program guide and on FB. L.Nelson suggested
asking authors to promote event as well. Suggested having RAC do a crai Ged to books, black
out books or paper bag book cover crai. Will confirm at Nov. meeGng.
Winter Market Planter DecoraEons
Bonnie and Chris would love to have the planters again. Requested a denser planter with more
decoraGons. Doing sooner before the ground freezes would be a good idea. The materials were
donated from the xmas tree farm at Veterans so Gming might depend on that. K.Heumiller will
look into budget to see if RAC can purchase materials.
2024 Farmers Market ideas
Paper bag puppets, suggested to purchase solid white canvas to have in stock. TexGle or yarn
crai, large felt embroidery, felt pennants, Proposed 3 events, one per month in June, July and
August.
Electrical Box Wraps
Karl sent photos to Public Works. Photo contest advert. in Rfld Guide
Art Displays- community center, city hall
Art Display opening had 25 people aYend. John Blackshear arGst. Great feedback. Next Month
is Amanda Pearson.
Staff Update
Jessica and Wei have lei. Has posted first posiGon. Second posiGon will be posted in
December. Karl will be acGng interim director while search for new Parks and Rec. director.
Announcements
Dual Language has next fundraiser event Nov. 10th. 6-8pm. Invited RAC to host a table for a
crai. Movie will be in gym and local arGst will have an table in one room. Suggested RAC Ge
crai into movie. Will discuss at Nov. meeGng.
Crossroads will present show Nov. 17,18,19,24,25,26. Scrooge in the Hood. F/Sat7pm, Sundays
4pm. Will need reservaGons on Eventbrite. $!5 per Gcket.
