2019-01-02 TC Minutes Richfield Transportation Commission Attachment #1 January 2, 2019 - Meeting Minutes 7:00 p.m. | Richfield Municipal Center – Bartholomew Room Commission members: Ted Weidenbach (chair), Paul Chillman, Wes Dunser, Gary Ness, Ken Severson, Gerry Charnitz, Tim Carter, and Jack Wold Commission members not in attendance: Jeffrey Walz and Francine Legba Liaisons: Sean Hayford Oleary and Sarah Musgrave Liaisons not in attendance: Simon Trautmann City Staff Liaison: Jack Broz Other City Staff: Logan Vlasaty I. Call meeting to Order Commissioner Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. II. Approval of Agenda Motion by Commissioner Charnitz to approve the agenda, s/Dunser. Motion carried. III. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Motion made by Commissioner Severson to approve the minutes, s/Wold. Motion carried. IV. Updates  Vlasaty updated the Commission regarding the 66th St. project. The project is currently in winter suspension. The Commission raised concerns about pedestrian crossings at 66th Street and the Southbound 35W exit ramp during right turn on red movements.  Broz gave an update on the roundabout education campaign. Field days were done for both Lyndale and Nicollet roundabouts with police and the public was invited to walk roundabouts with staff.  Hayford Oleary updated the Commission on the 66th and Queen development which was approved with height modification. V. I-494 Discussion  Broz informed the Commission that there are currently issues with 76th Street to Northbound 35W that would likely get worse with the 494 project. A solution is needed. The Commission’s main focus is on local traffic movements and impacts from various ramp closures. VI. 65th Street  Broz presented the public’s feedback from the recent 65th Street open house. Commissioners discussed the public’s various goals for the new 65th street such as encouraging store frontage, including on-street parking, maintaining neighborhood access, and adding pedestrian and bike facilities. Many items regarding the 65th Street Project are up in the air pending more concrete HUB redevelopment plans. VII. Work Plan Review /Next Steps  Portland Ave Bicycle Gap (60th to 66th St.)  65th St./Nicollet Ave VIII. Upcoming events/meetings(s)  Next scheduled Commission meeting: February 6th, 2019. IX. Thank you to exiting commissioners!  Outgoing commissioners Carter and Ness were thanked for their years of service and dedication. X. Adjournment Motion made by Commissioner Ness to adjourn meeting, s/Dunser. Motion carried. Adjourned at 8:42 pm.
