2018-09-05 TC Minutes Richfield Transportation Commission Attachment #1 September 5, 2018 - Meeting Minutes 7:00 p.m. | Richfield Municipal Center – Heredia Room Commission members: Ted Weidenbach (chair), Paul Chillman, Wes Dunser, Gary Ness, Ken Severson, Jeffrey Walz, Gerry Charnitz, Tim Carter, and Jack Wold. Commission members not in attendance: Brynn Hausz Liaisons: Sean Hayford Oleary and Simon Trautmann Liaisons not in attendance: Sarah Musgrave City Staff Liaison: Jack Broz Other City Staff: Logan Vlasaty I. Call meeting to Order Commissioner Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm. II. Approval of Agenda Motion made by Commissioner Severson to approve the agenda, s/Charnitz. Motion carried. III. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Motion made by Commissioner Ness to approve the minutes, s/Chillman. Motion carried. IV. Updates  Vlasaty provided an update regarding the 66th St. project.  Broz provided an update on the roundabout education campaign and the Xerxes project progress.  Hayford Oleary gave an update on the bike advocates group and planning/zoning/redevelopment. V. Pedestrian Master Plan  Dan Edgerton provided an update on the progress of the pedestrian master plan and outlined the new approach of using land use to help direct what pedestrian experiences should be met.  Commission provided thorough feedback on current draft of the pedestrian master plan and generally supported the document.  Commissioner Severson moved to table the pedestrian master plan recommendation to City Council until a later date. VI. Lyndale Avenue – 70th to Oak Grove Blvd  Broz provided an update on Lyndale final design progress and public outreach along the corridor.  Broz provided a background and overview of the public involvement process used and provided the commission with AARP Livability fact sheets related to the Lyndale design focused on Sidewalks, Street Trees, Modern Roundabouts, Bicycling, Parking, and Road Diets.  Commissioner Ness motioned to further discuss as an agenda item bike facilities on the Lyndale Avenue design, s/Charnitz. Ness withdrew motion.  Commissioner Dunser motioned to direct staff to further investigate the bike facilities in the Lyndale design and report back to the commission at the next meeting, s/Severson. VII. Adjournment Motion made by Commissioner Walz to adjourn meeting, s/Ness. Motion carried. Adjourned at 9:38 pm.
