August 1, 2018 - Meeting Minutes
7:00 p.m. | Richfield Municipal Center
Commission members: Ted Weidenbach (chair), Paul Chillman, Wes Dunser, Brynn Hausz,
Gary Ness, Ken Severson, Jeffrey Walz, and Jack Wold.
Commission members not in attendance: Gerry Charnitz and Tim Carter
Liaisons: Sarah Musgrave and Simon Trautmann
Liaisons not in attendance: Sean Hayford Oleary
City Staff Liaison: Jack Broz

I. Call meeting to Order
Commissioner Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.
II. Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Commissioner Severson to approve the agenda, s/Ness. Motion carried.
III. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Motion made by Commissioner Chillman to approve the minutes, s/Severson. Motion
carried.
IV. Updates
Vlasaty provided an update regarding the 66th St. project.
Broz provided an update regarding the Xerxes and Lyndale project progress.
V. Portland Ave- 60th to 66th St
Jason Staebell explained details of the Portland Ave – 60th to 66th Project:
o Portland is going to be converted from 4 lanes to 3 lanes with enhanced
bike/pedestrian facilities in the proposed project.
o Commission requested better public outreach/communication than what is
currently planned.
VI. Roundabout Education
Charlene Zimmer presented a roundabout educational quiz that was used in
another region and led a demonstration to help identify the concerns of
roundabout users to help better target our education campaign to be the most
effective.
VII. Work Plan Review/Next Steps
Commission members expressed interest in attending Edina work plan review.
VIII. Upcoming Events/Meeting(s)
Commission members discussed what to do moving forward in regards to taking
a closer look at the Lyndale design and the need to address it at future meetings,
particularly as an agenda item for September’s meeting.
IX. Public Participation
Residents brought up concerns about 70th and Lyndale and the mature oak trees
along the corridor.
Commission members discussed looking further into options and safety concerns
along the Lyndale corridor design.
X. Adjournment
Motion made by Commissioner Wold to adjourn meeting, s/Ness. Motion carried.
