Commission members: Ted Weidenbach (chair), Paul Chillman, Gerry Charnitz, Gary Ness,
Ken Severson, Jeffrey Walz, Brynn Hausz, and Wes Dunser

I. Call meeting to Order
Commission Chair Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.
II. Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Chillman to approve the agenda. s/Dunser. Motion carried.
III. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Motion made by Chillman to approve the minutes, s/Charnitz. Motion carried.
IV. Update
Vlasaty provided an update about the 66th St. Reconstruction Project; the
timeline, progress, and what is to be expected in the coming month(s).
Broz provided and update regarding the CenterPoint energy work on Nicollet Ave.
and the impacts that will have on travel in the area in conjunction with the 66th
St. Reconstruction.
Broz gave an update about 64th St. and Xerxes Ave. Broz discussed Hennepin
County’s role in striping, the City of Edina’s role in the lighting, and the City of
Richfield’s role in sidwalks.
V. Lyndale Avenue Reconstruction
Broz gave background information on the Lyndale Ave. design process, as well as
explained queue lengths for different configurations at 76th St.
Bolton & Menk representative, Tim Lamkin, walked through the most up to date
layout, section by section. Broz and Lamkin performed the “slider bar” activity
with commission members for each section of the corridor. They explained why
certain alternatives were chosen over others.
VI. 2018 Bicycle Routes
The discussion on the 2018 bike routes was tabled until the next meeting.
VII. Upcoming Events/Meeting(s)
Due to the upcoming Lyndale Avenue Open House on May 1, Staff wanted more time to
prepare the results from that open house for the Commission.
Motion made by Severson to reschedule the Transportation Commission Meeting to
Wednesday, May 16, 2018. s/Walz. Motion carried.
Joint Transportation Commission/Council Work Session: April 24th, 2018
Lyndale Avenue Reconstruction Open House: May 1st, 2018
Next scheduled Commission meeting: May 16th, 2018
VIII. Public Participation
A resident requested to see 76th St. queue for the existing layout on Lyndale Ave.
IX. Adjournment
Motion made by Ness to adjourn meeting, s/Walz. Motion carried. Adjourned at 9:10 pm.
