Meeting Minutes
November 1, 2017

I. Call meeting to Order
Chair Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm
II. Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Charnitz to add Penn Fest Update to the agenda, s/Walz. Motion carried.
Motion made by Charnitz to approve the agenda with the addition. s/Dunser.
III. Approval of September 6, 2017 Meeting Minutes
Motion made by Walz to approve the minutes, s/Carter. Motion carried.
IV. Updates
Broz provided a status update on the 69th St. Project and the 66th St.
Reconstruction Project.
Commission Liaison Felgate provided a community development update on the
band shell/Veterans Park, and the community garden.
Commission Liaison Musgrave provided an update on the human rights
commission, and an update from the planning commission regarding the Dunkin’
Donuts and Jaguar/Land Rover projects.
Broz provided an update on Penn Fest.
V. D-Line Arterial Bus Rapid Transit, Katie Roth and Scott Janowiak – Metro Transit
Roth and Janowiak provided the following information regarding the D-Line
Arterial Bus Rapid Transit:
o The line travels through Richfield via Portland Ave.
o Bus stops will be upgraded along route (At 66th St., 72nd St., and 77th St.)
o The public input process will begin in early 2018
o Construction is estimated to range from 2020-2021
o The Commission expressed concerns over the space between stops on the
new D-Line.
VI. Lyndale Avenue Reconstruction
City Staff performed a “slider chart” demonstration showing the transportation
needs of Lyndale Ave and the conceptual design features.
City Staff also gave an in-depth summary of the first open house on October 25;
including reactions and attendance.
VII. Work Plan Review/Next Steps
The Commission discussed who maintains the 73rd St. pedestrian bridge.
The Commission directed staff to follow up at the next Commission meeting with
more information regarding the 73rd St. pedestrian bridge.
