2016-12-07 TC MinutesATTACHMENT #1 Richfield Transportation Commission Meeting Minutes December 7, 2016 7:00 p.m. | Richfield Municipal Center | Heredia Room Commission members in attendance: Ted Weidenbach (chair), Tim Carter, Gerry Charnitz, Paul Chillman, Gary Ness, Sue Sandahl, Ken Severson, Jeffrey Walz, and Jack Wold Commission members not in attendance: Brynn Hausz Liaisons in attendance: Art Felgate, Michael Howard, and Sean Hayford Oleary represented by Chris Olson Liaisons not in attendance: None City Staff Liaison: Jack Broz Other City Staff: Logan Vlasaty Other: None I. Call meeting to Order Chair Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm II. Approval of Agenda Motion made by Severson to approve the agenda, s/Sandahl. Motion carried. III. Approval of November 2, 2016 Meeting Minutes Motion made by Charnitz to approve the minutes, s/Walz. Motion carried. IV. Stop Sign Policy  Sandahl stated some citizens want the sub-collector system.  Ness stated his neighborhood does not care which way, as long as there is control.  Weidenbach stated he is not aware of any issues in his neighborhood.  Ness suggested getting neighborhood feedback.  Commission members agreed to reach out to neighborhoods.  An audience member (Dave) supports the arterial system; he lives in an area of the basket weave layout. V. Bicycle Planning  Broz presented a review of the Bicycle Master Plan map and 2017 bicycle routes.  Commission members supported 73rd St western portion, the 12th Ave bridge over Highway 62, extending 12th Ave and Bloomington Ave, and suggested to use 62nd St to connect Veteran’s and Taft Parks.  Felgate suggested connection to Freemont Park. VI. Family Friendly Future Campaign  Broz presented the Family Friendly Future campaign to the Commission. VII. Work Plan Review/Next Steps  Broz reviewed the work plan and discussed a roundabout education program. VIII. Updates  Vlasaty gave updates on the MCES closures, 66th Street demolitions and tree removal. Broz have updates on the 77th Street Underpass funding, and Portland Ave bike connection. IX. Upcoming Events/Meeting(s)  Next scheduled Commission Meeting: January 4, 2017 X. Adjournment Motion made by Ness to adjourn meeting, s/Carter. Adjourned at 8:56 pm.
