2016-09-07 TC MinutesATTACHMENT #1 Richfield Transportation Commission Meeting Minutes September 7, 2016 7:00 p.m. | Richfield Municipal Center | Heredia Room Commission members in attendance: Ted Weidenbach (chair), Gerry Charnitz, Paul Chillman, Brynn Hausz, Gary Ness, Ken Severson, Jeffrey Walz, and Jack Wold Commission members not in attendance: Tim Carter and Sue Sandahl Liaisons in attendance: Art Felgate and Michael Howard Liaisons not in attendance: Sean Hayford Oleary City Staff Liaison: Jack Broz Other City Staff: Michael Petersen Other: None I. Call meeting to Order Chair Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm II. Approval of Agenda Motion made by Charnitz to approve the agenda, s/Ness. Motion carried. III. Approval of August 3, 2016 Meeting Minutes Motion made by Hausz to approve the minutes, s/Charnitz. Motion carried. IV. Welcome New Commissioners  Commissioners welcomed new youth commissioner Jack Wold. V. Pedestrian Plan – 69th Street Alternatives  Broz went over the 69th Street Open House and discussed the public comments.  Staff proposed striping the road two lanes with a parking lane then monitoring speeds and parking. Motion made by Weidenbach to stripe 69th Street as proposed by City staff, and monitor speeds, parking, and pedestrians; after a few weeks staff is to recommend to Council to implement parking restrictions and install delineators as a “pilot” project and again staff will monitor speeds and pedestrians and compare to when the road was just striped, s/Severson. Motion carried. VI. Smart Cities, Art Felgate  Art Felgate gave a presentation on smart cities technologies. VII. Work Plan Review/Next Steps  Discussed Penn Fest. VIII. Updates  Broz and Petersen gave updates on the following projects: o 66th Street Streetscape - Kickoff this fall o 77th Street Underpass - ROW acquisition started; addressing MnDOT comments o 66th Street Bus Routes - Staff determining how to get information out to the public o NW Richfield Bike Routes - Contractor on board working on MnDOT permits o TRP Trail - Ribbon cutting October 1 IX.
