Meeting Minutes
May 6, 2015

I. Call meeting to Order
Chair Weidenbach called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm
II. Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Severson to approve the agenda, s/Sandahl. Motion carried.
III. Approval of April 1, 2015 Meeting Minutes
Motion made by Charnitz to approve the minutes, s/Sandahl. Motion carried.
IV. Guest Discussion: Edina Transportation Commission
Katherine Bass, Edina Transportation Commission Chair gave background on her
experience with ETC as well as their Transportation Commission’s role in Edina
government.
Bass went through ETC’s 2015 Annual Work Plan and listened to Richfield staff and
Commissioners go over various transportation related topics.
V. Updates
Pearson gave an update on 69th Street Storm Sewer Project, including addressing
a question from the April meeting regarding inclusion of a sidewalk on 69th Street.
Pearson noted that although the Comprehensive Plan allowed for a sidewalk on
69th Street, the plan initiated as a utility project not a street reconstruction and as
such was designed to replace as is. He stated that there was no engagement with
residents regarding the possibility of a sidewalk and that the only way to include it
at this point would be a separately-bid project. The Commission expressed a desire
to review/discuss internal policies for implementing planned sidewalks on future
projects.
Pearson also gave updates on Portland Avenue Reconstruction; Redevelopment
Projects; 66th Street; 77th Street Underpass
Liaisons gave updates on other Commissions and Bike Advocates activities.
