Meeting Minutes
April 3, 2013

I. Call meeting to Order
M.Kirsch called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
II. Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Carter to approve the agenda with the addition of Crosstown Discussion
item, s/Ahlstrom. Motion carried.
III. Approval of Meeting Minutes
Motion made by Ahlstrom to approve March 6, 2013 meeting minutes, s/Carter. Motion
carried.
IV. County Road Visioning
The second draft of the Guiding Principles Document was discussed. This draft included
examples of each principle and prioritized the principles per member recommendations.
Members thought the photos worked well alongside the principles. Motion was made by
Ness to approve the Guiding Principles Document and present it to the City Council,
s/Ahlstrom.
V. Lakes at Lyndale Connectivity Study
Pearson presented an overview of the Lakes at Lyndale Connectivity Study and touched on
some recommendations. The members discussed crosswalks in the area, focusing on the
mid-block locations.
VI. Crosstown Presentation
Pearson gave a draft presentation that will be given to the 35W Solutions Alliance for the
benefit of the Commission as well as to get feedback to be used in the final presentation.
The topic centered on the need for additional capacity on the Crosstown (TH 62) from
Penn Ave to Highway 100 and from Portland Ave to Highway 77.
VII. Updates
Pearson provided updates on the 494/35W Interchange planning process, the I-494
Projects in progress, and the on-going Richfield Parkway acquisition and design process.
VIII. Adjournment
Motion made by Carter to adjourn meeting, s/Nutter. Motion carried. Adjourned at 8:30
pm.
The next Transportation Commission meeting is scheduled for July 3, 2013 at 7:00
p.m. at the Richfield Municipal Center, Bartholomew Room.
