DRAFT Minutes 02-03-10RICHFIELD TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION DRAFT MEETING MINUTES FEBRUARY 3, 2010 7:00 p.m. | Richfield City Hall | Council Chambers Commission members in attendance: Martin Kirsch (Chair); Sara Nutter; Gail Lund; Pat Sorensen; Barb Kritzman; Bob Shotwell; Peter Easterlund; Gary Ness; Tim Carter; Andrew Wittenborg; Maureen Scaglia; and Council Member Sue Sandahl. Others in attendance: David Gepner City Staff: Jeff Pearson, Kristin Asher Osberg. Excused absence: Gerald Charnitz CALL TO ORDER M. Kirsch called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion to approve the agenda by Kritzman, s/ Sorensen. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Motion by Easterlund to approve January 6, 2010 meeting minutes, s/ Kritzman. Motion carried. WELCOME OF NEW MEMBERS The commission welcomed new members Tim Carter, Andrew Wittenborg, Gary Ness, and CSC Liaison Robert Shotwell. COUNTY/ARTERIAL ROAD CORRIDOR PRIORITIZATION The Commission reviewed discussed the list of key categories and definitions prepared by staff. Suggested revisions will be incorporated for final review at the March meeting. UPDATES BICYCLE MASTER PLAN TASK FORCE Pearson noted that the Task Force will be moving forward and applications will be due on March 1st. A list of participants will be prepared for the March meeting. TRANSPORTATION REATHORIZATION OUTREACH TOUR Pearson summarized the events of the January 25th forum attended by Transportation Secretary LaHood and Representative Oberstar. Emphasis was placed on the five priorities identified by the US/DOT for future projects. I-494 CONGESTION REPORT Pearson reviewed the recent report ranking the I-494 corridor at Lyndale Ave. the 17th most congested in the nation. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION GRANTS Pearson noted that work is underway the two bike route projects with public open house meetings on February 24th and March 2nd. Staff and the consultant will present the results of the open house meetings at the March 3rd commission meeting. TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION LIAISONS There was discussion on the issue of having Transportation Commission liaisons to other commissions. It was decided that the current liaisons from the Planning and Community Services Commissions act as two-way liaisons and there isn’t a need for additional representation on those commissions.
