The Art Center has first billing, then mini golf and Farmers Market • The Teen Art Show pottery will be removed and replaced with the first wave of wearable art. Shelves will be cleaned first. • Jason Eisold will be handling the Concerts in the Park series, as Kelly Mertes has resigned. There will now be a staff person that will be handing the chairs/signs set up for Concerts in the Park, so we can focus all of our energies on selling concessions • New flooring will be installed at the Art Center. MK brought samples of flooring to pass around and get our opinions RAC co-chairs’ meeting with Jim T. Debra Caserotti and Judy Goebel The co-chairs met with Jim Topitzhofer, the director of city recreation services. Jim said there is going to be renovations this spring including a patio out in front of the mini-golf/Art Center area that will also include a bistro style café selling coffee and ice cream during the summer. The latest brainstorm on adding security to the Art Center is creating a sculpture with bicycles over the open crawl space. The bike sculpture would serve its purpose as security (people could not get through it), but it also has an art aesthetic. We really want something that wows and makes the art center stand out. MK was directed to call Richfield sculptor Norm Holen to see if he could help/give suggestions on what to do. Norm was busy and told MK he would call back. If we did use old bikes as part of the design, we could get them free from the city; we’d just need to have someone to put the sculpture together. MK will set up a meeting with Norm. Ron and Willie asked to be part of the meeting. MK will set up meeting with Norm and include Ron and Willie RAC Public Art Tour Tomasz Majewski Debra, Judy and Tomasz brainstormed a way to connect the RAC public art tour brochure to an event. The result; A public art tour using rented bicycles from Veterans Park. The tour would start at the Art Center, go to the community center to see the mural, and end up at Kirshbach park to see several of the sculptures. Different RAC members could be at different staging areas to talk about the art or guide the tour. It could be an open event from noon to 4pm, but also provide a structured large group tour at 2pm. We could run the tour on back streets to avoid busy streets, and possibly ask the Richfield police to provide an escort, but that may cost money. Other questions: Could we invite the residents of the Pines and Village shores and could they provide bussing for their members? Is Kirschbach park considered private property or “Bike Committee” will coordinate schedules and start on event logistics Richfield Arts Commission Meeting Minutes a public park? Can we use this as a Do-Town event? Could they provide publicity? Would Richfield Ambassadors want to be part of the event? Would Dave Gepner’s biking group be interested in helping? Would city council be interested? We decided a smaller group should work together as a “Bike Committee” to further this event and get some of the questions answered. Tomasz, Claire, Ron, and Pete will coordinate schedules and keep Judy and Deborah posted. Community Center Art Display Ron Wilson The Teen Art Show will be on display through March. Sandra Nelson’s acrylic paintings will go up in April. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 8:17 PM. Respectfully Submitted, Kevin Klos, Secretary of the RAC
