Band Shell Status David
Butler
David Butler (manager of the Richfield Symphonic Band and
Richfield Band Shell group member) came to update us on the
status of the band shell and ask the Arts Commission for an
endorsement for the creation of the band shell. David told us
the plan is to get $250,000.00 of money from the city in support
of the band shell (from Richfield Liquor Store money) and the
other $750,000.00 will need to be raised by the band shell
group. An analysis of airport noise was done on the Veteran’s
Park site, and it was found the Veteran’s Park site has less
noise than the Lake Harriett band shell site. The VP site is
fairly close to the stage that gets set up for the 4th of July.
Portable band shelters were considered, but were found to not
be very durable. Ellen made a motion for the endorsement of
the band shell. We voted. Motion passed.

Colleen Carey from the Cornerstone Group is creating a
Lyndale Gardens Art Initiative in their new development. She is
interested in involving artists in the design and planning stages
of the project to help ensure it will be beautiful, unique and
support artists in the community. Judy will contact Colleen and
set up a time where any interested RAC members can get
together and go meet with her to get more information on this
initiative. Judy will send out an email to the group on a
date/time.

talk to MK about specific timing and funding.

good resource for getting poetry fans there that night.

next Monday to discuss the role of social media on city
