She had about 30 people attend her opening on Saturday March 19th from 1-3pm. • 22 people attended the March RAC Movie Night. Age ranges of those who attended were diverse. The winners of the Twins tickets and the DVD were both young boys. We sold $23.25 worth of concessions so we are now -$12.66 overall, but have plenty of concessions to sell at future events. We need to get the building reserved for dates by June 1st. We need to get our dates in by July to be published in the fall book, which covers Sept-Dec. Get future movie night dates in by June 1st. Richfield Farmers Market Ellen Stinger For the May open house event, we will have a “painting flower pots” activity as the main attraction. Ellen will get the key to open things up. Volunteers for this event are: Ellen, Claire, Deborah, Jackie. If anyone else can make it, they are welcome to. Can Pete get music for this event? Did Judy talk to Cheryl about the Friday Farmers’ market? The idea for that location is to have an artist there to demo/sell work. Can they can provide a table for us? Ellen will get key. MK will bring flower pots/paint to Art Center. Pete will get musicians. Judy will talk to Cheryl for additional info on Friday’s Market. Art in Richfield directory Ellen Stinger • Sue Sandahl from the Richfield City Council stopped by to discuss the directory. She thought we should approach Richfield businesses about adding sculptures and also asked us where in Richfield are good places to add new sculptures. Ideas from brainstorm included: Portland Avenue towards east Richfield and on the Holy Angels property. She wanted to know if Richfield has more sculptures than Minneapolis? She likes the idea of having a sculpture crawl and wants us to start thinking more on specifics. Can we have an event for the crawl? She pointed out that San Antonio, Texas has a lot of public art and that is how they market the town. Can Richfield eventually do that? The city council will promote this with new developers. Can we supply them with ideas? • Claire brought in some examples of different kinds of maps we could use to plan our directory. MK also brought in a map of Richfield we can use. Kevin and Jackie will bring concepts for the directory at the next meeting. We will decide on a design and start adding Kevin and Jackie will bring concepts for the directory at the next meeting. Everyone will bring in information on the sculptures they were assigned to at the next meeting. Richfield Arts Commission Meeting Minutes information from there. In the mean time, we split up gathering information for each sculpture – year it was created, medium and any other information we can find. We also decided not to include advertising in the directory since the space is already limited and the city is handling the printing. Lyndale Gardens Complex – art space Ellen Stinger The new development at the Lyndale Gardens complex will have an art space. We don’t know any additional information about this yet, but keep it on the radar. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 PM. Respectfully Submitted, Kevin Klos, Secretary of the RAC
