Report from City Liaison - MK Champa
City Hall display case that has been claimed by the Arts Commission has 3 glass shelves and it is
the most prominent of all the cases. There are now 2 signs in it to indicate that it is for Arts
Commission use. MK agreed to meet with RAC members at the Community Center on Tuesday,
Sept 6 at 3pm, and accompany them to put their work etc in the display case. Members were
urged to bring a piece of their art work and a note with their name/contact info and brief info about
the artist. RAC members’ art work will be on display until the end of the year. We need to make a
plan as to how many times a year we will change this display in 2012 and beyond. We discussed
using this space for 3 dimensional work by the Teen Art contest participants. Pete agreed to email
Kevin concerning this.
RAC has accumulated $80 in donations and funds raised through refreshment sales at Concerts in
the Park.
There are approximately 100 dancers registered now in classes offered at the Community Center.
Concerts in the Park Review
We voted to continue to host Concerts in the Park in 2012.
We would like to ask that musicians have a sound system or amplifier.
We need new signs to make our presence known & for donations and sales.
Richfield Historical Society Ice Cream Social Review
Four members of the Commission demonstrated their art forms at this event. (Ron brought his
pastel to the meeting to show). The new director is Jody Larson.
We discussed advertising this event next year in the new display case at City Hall.
Teen Art Contest status/plans
Deferred to the October meeting.
Art Center Open House – September 10
Musicians - arranged by Pete through Farmers Market
Activities- paper bag puppets and Willie planed to bring
spin art and some better brushes to use
Signs - we will use what we have, but we agreed that
we need new signs, MK will advise on this.
Volunteers to staff event - Ron, Judy, Ellen, Willie, Jackie
New Business
Annual RAC Report to City Council Tues. Sept 13, 2011 7pm
Judy and Ellen plan to attend and make the presentation. Judy has produced a PowerPoint
presentation to add interest to the presentation.
Last open house at Art Center Oct. 8, 2011
YARN BOMBING - we need yarn, Willie suggested that he would have some to donate
SIGNS -we need new permanent - MK will advise on this.
PATCH needs to be made aware of this event
Music Pete will look into bring the Drum line from his school
