The RAC will have some input and we may get a display case inside the building. We will have input in selecting art for the building. A member of the community development team is currently looking for grants to help pay for some items for the City Hall, which could include a hanging system for artwork. MK informed us our budget leftover for the year was $90.36. We need to spend this money by the end of the month, or we lose it. We discussed spending the money on gift card prizes for the Teen Art show, as well as iron-on transfers and t-shirts to make Arts Commission shirts. Pete moved our co-chairs spend the money at Michaels to buy our supplies by the end of the year. The motion carried and was approved. Approved — Judy, Ellen, MK will meet up at Michael’s to purchase gift cards prizes for Teen Art Show, as well as iron-on transfers, and t-shirts Report on Movie Night Judy Goebel 5 people showed up to the first movie night. We were able to sell a few concessions. The low turnout could be due to the Yellow Submarine movie not being as popular with kids, and also not getting the word out enough. The next movie night is Friday, February 11th. We will discuss more next meeting. Teen Art Show Kevin Klos Kevin didn’t hear back from the Optimists club about donating to help with participation awards. Ellen, Ron and Kevin will judge the art on Saturday, December 4 at noon at the library. Kevin through numerous contacts was able to get the Teen Art Show info up on the Portland Avenue and Lyndale signs, the city website Sun Current website, Richfield Patch, MinnesotaMonthly.com and MNArtists.org websites. Also, an “Out and About in Richfield” episode about the Teen Art Show on the Richfield cable channel has been running. Kevin will write letter to editor in the Sun Current before the show begins. The Teen Art Show will include a separate pottery category this year, so instead of a RAC 3D award, we may want to open it up to different guidelines. We decided to leave it to the discretion of the judges after they judge the art. After a group discussion, Ron motioned for the RAC to allocate up to $50 to be used for Michaels gift cards as RAC Teen Art Show awards. Motion carried and was approved. Jackie will bring her camera to the opening night to get photos of the students and the work. After judging, Kevin will get in contact with the Art teachers to let them know the winners, in hopes they notify the winners and their parents so they attend the awards show/opening night. Approved to spend up to $50 on Michael’s gift cards for Teen Art Show awards. Jackie will bring camera to awards show. Kevin will email Jackie to remind her. Kevin, Ellen and Ron will judge Teen Art show. Kevin will get in contact with Art Teachers after judging. Kevin will email Lisa Howes to find out how much the other award gift cards will be. Kevin will write letter to editor in Sun Current. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM. Richfield Arts Commission Meeting Minutes Respectfully Submitted, Kevin Klos, Secretary of the RAC
