MaryKaye informed us that we made $15.11 in donations from
the pottery lottery during the October open house. We now
have a total of $103.53 for the year. The money does not carry
over so we will need to spend it by the end of the year. After a
brief discussion, we decided to use the money to buy RAC t-
shirts, snacks to sell during the upcoming movie nights, and to
buy a gift card to donate as an award to the Teen Art Show.
MK talked to Pam Dmytrenko about the RAC getting display
room in the new City Hall. The Heredia group and Richfield
Historical Society also want display room. Pam is going to set
up a meeting for all 3 groups to further discuss options. The
new City Hall opens summer 2011. We also need to decide on
a movie for the early 2011 RAC movie night so we can get it
advertised in the community book.
Decide on the
early 2011 RAC
movie night
feature.
Art Center Open
House
Judy
Goebel
The farmers market enjoyed our open houses and wants us
back next year. Spin art, button-making, and pottery lottery
were the most popular activities. The mural painting drew a lot
of people from outside and so did recruiting from the
playground. The main draw is that people like getting
something for free that they can take home. Still no word on
the missing tables from the Art Center, but MK told us they will
be replaced in time for next spring. We will continue having the
open house events on the 2nd Saturday of each month on the
following dates for 2011: May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13,
September 10, October 8
Teen Art Show Kevin Klos Kevin is waiting to hear back from Tom Rublien and the
Optimists club about donating to help with participation awards.
Judy, Ellen and Kevin volunteered to judge the art. The judging
will take place on Saturday, December 4 at noon at the library.
Kevin is going to contact John Evans about getting the Teen
Art info up on the city website. Willie is going to contact the
RMS teacher Steve Mills about setting up a pickup time for a
volunteer to take the students art to the library. Kevin emailed
Pete info on the Teen Art Show to give to the Holy Angels Art
teacher. Ron and Ellen volunteered to pick up any artwork
students want to enter from RMS and Holy Angels. Kevin
asked if anyone knew how to get info up on the Lyndale
Avenue sign. MK knows the contact to do so and will send to
Kevin, as well as the contact that runs the Portland Avenue
sign. Kevin is going to get in contact with Mayor Goettel about
presenting at the Teen Art Show again this year. Kevin created
a flyer for Willie and Pete to post in their schools to advertise
for the teen art show. Kevin is going to contact the “Out and
About in Richfield” show to see if we can get an episode
previewing the Teen Art Show. Kevin will also submit the event
to local online art calendars.
MK will send sign
contact info to
Kevin and Kevin
will act on it.
Willie will talk to
Steve Mills about
the Teen Art
Show. Pete will
talk to the Holy
Angels Art
teacher. Kevin
will get in contact
with the “Out and
About in
Richfield” crew,
John Evans and
the Mayor.
Remodeling Fair Judy We were unsure of the exact date of the remodeling fair. The
Richfield Arts Commission Meeting Minutes
Goebel general consensus of the group was there was little benefit to
having a booth at the Remodeling Fair due to low turn out and
interest last year so we will table the idea for now.
Movie Night Judy
Goebel
Ellen, Judy, Deborah, Jackie and MK have volunteered to run
the November movie night. Ellen and MK will show up at 6pm,
while the rest of the group will show up later. Pete will drop off
the movie. MK let us know that Cornerstone has a popcorn
maker that we can for free. The group decided buying bulk
popcorn would be easier this time around. MK will buy a big
bag of popcorn and bring it to movie night as well as plain
M&Ms and bottled water for concessions. Kevin will post the
event to Facebook and Twitter. Ellen suggested having the
donation box out.
MK will buy
concessions.
Kevin will post
event on
Facebook/Twitter.
Pete will bring in
movie. MK and
Ellen will show up
at 6pm.
Recruiting for Arts
Commission
Judy
Goebel
Judy suggested that we do some recruiting for the RAC to
bring in more members in the new year. Judy is going to write
a letter to Sun Current.
