The June Open House at the art center went well. It started a bit
slow, so MK went onto the playground to let children and their
parents know that there were free (keyword free) kid-friendly art
activities inside the art center — this helped get a lot of families
into the art center. There were activities that included face
painting, spin art, button making, rubbings and a pottery lottery.
The Art Center had a lot of traffic, and at times it was crowded.
July Open House Judy
Goebel
Our next open house is July 10th, 9am-12pm. Our main activity will
be painting murals on large panels provided by Willie. We will
have two different kinds of murals for kids to paint on: a “paint-by-
number” style mural and a “free style” mural. RAC members can
call Deb at the community center to schedule a room/time to get
the paint-by-number murals ready. Ron will create a flower design,
Deborah will create a crazy quilt design, Ellen, Willie, and Judy will
also create a paint-by-number mural. MaryKaye will bring the
mural panels over to the art center before the event. In the
meantime the panels can be stored at the community center.
Volunteers
will create
paint-by-
number
murals, and
MaryKaye will
bring the
panels to the
art center.
All-Commission
Meeting

The president Richfield Advisory Group of Health invited all chairs
of the Richfield commissions to get together to network and see if
some commissions can mutually help each other. Some good
matches for the RAC could be with the Community Services
Commission (since our art center is in a park), and the Health
Advisory group (dance fits in with healthy activities). Molly Darson
from the Human Rights Commission could help us find contacts to
other ethnic groups within the community. Another topic discussed
at this meeting was creating awareness marketing to get more
people involved in Richfield commissions.
Music in the Park Ellen
Stinger
Ellen and MaryKaye went shopping and bought snacks for a
fundraiser. Before the concert, Ron handed out flyers and Willie
went around and talked to people in the crowd about the RAC.
Ellen walked around with the cooler and sold snacks. About 75
people showed up to the event. Bill the custodian helped set the
band up. We sold $17.50 worth of snacks, plus received $8 worth
of donations. We discussed ways to improve for next time and the
main 2 ideas were: first, to create a large sign to have next to
where we are selling food to let people know there is food for sale
and that it is a fundraiser for the RAC. The second idea is to
position the table by the parking lot, so people can get food as
they come into the band area.
Pot Luck Judy
Goebel
We will have a potluck on July 8th at 5pm in the picnic shelter in
Augsburg Park. Bring what you can, and wear your RAC shirt.

We have added dates in August. We can still use some volunteers
for the remaining dates. We passed around a sign up sheet, and
members absent from our meeting can contact Kelli or use the
