RAC_JAN_10_minutesRICHFIELD ARTS COMMISSION MEETING
THURSDAY JAN. 7th, 7:00 PM, IN COMMUNITY CENTER
http://www.cityofrichfield.org/officials/Commissions/arts.htm
Present: Judy Goebel (Co-chair), Kevin Klos, Willie Falwell, Jackie Mihalik, MaryKaye Champa, Ron Wilson, Marilyn Anderson
Guest: Deborah Caserotti
Minutes submitted by: Kevin Klos
MaryKaye’s Report: MaryKaye reported that the city commission interviews were being held next Saturday, and new members will be approved on January 26th. MaryKaye was able to reserve
a work session for the RAC with the city council on Tuesday, February 23rd at 5:30. Bring any big ideas (or small ones) to the February RAC meeting so we can bring them up to the council.
Also on the topic of reserving dates, we now have dates planned for having the Arts Center open during the farmers market: Saturday June 12, July 10, August 14, and tentatively during
Cattail Days and October 9. Ron suggested Pete should plan a music event to attract attention for the first Farmers Market in June. All of us agreed that was a good idea. Since Pete
was not present, we can only assume he agrees also, at least until the February meeting.
Remodeling Fair: We have a table reserved and a slot for a presentation. MaryKaye was going to give the RAC sign to Jackie to setup at the table. At the table we will have: candy, handouts
of a questionnaire, list of community art classes and registration forms, as well as a stack of our RAC newsletters that MaryKaye will print for us. Willie volunteered to do an art gallery
tour of Richfield High School. The remodeling fair runs from 9-3 on Saturday 23rd. If there is room at/near the table, Willie will run a spin art station to attract visitors. On the
presentation side, the RAC will participate in a panel discussion with Vuitts on the topic of using art work in one’s home.
Teen Art Show: Judy talked with Tom Rublein — the donation from the Optimists club for the Teen Art participation awards is a go, and Dr. Slotterbock would like to attend the participation
awards breakfast at the high school. During our discussion, we were unsure if Tom Rublein/Optimist club were providing food or not for this event. Judy and Willie will talk further about
the details of the awards breakfast and then get back to Tom Rublien. The awards breakfast is currently being planned for February.
RAC Strategic Plan: We are saving this for the February meeting, since we will have new members next month and would like their input.
Newsletter/Publicity Plan: Ron suggested adding the class info on to the newsletter. Jackie will be taking the newsletter to Vuitts, as they will add it to their in-store section of
art information. Kevin suggested we try and update our city webpage more often and volunteered to be a go-to person for it.
