MaryKaye’s Report: MaryKaye told us about (and passed around) our new
official city name badges for the Arts Commission members to wear during events.
These badges will help identify us as commission members to the general public.
Remodeling Fair: Judy reported that the RAC partnered with Vuitts gallery at the
Remodeling Fair, and the event was a success. While attendance was low, we had a
good presence at the remodeling fair and made a new contact — we received a
business card from a resident who is willing to loan us audio/visual equipment for
our future presentations. We also added 2 new artists to our artist registry list
during the event.
Teen Art Show Breakfast event: Judy talked with Tom Rublein and will need to
go over some logistics with Willie (not present) about using a room at the high
school. Kevin will also talk to Willie about getting Katelin Freeman’s (the Art
Commission 3D award winner) permission to use the photo of her and the RAC at
the teen art show to our web page.
Inactive Members: Judy reported that two of our members are inactive. We tried
sending them letters inquiring about their status with the RAC, and they did not
respond. Ron set a motion to remove Michelle Schwantes and Travis Gorsche as
members of the RAC due to inactivity. Motion was carried. We will send a formal
recommendation to city council to remove them from the roster.
RAC Strategic Plan: The commission spent close to two hours going through the
RAC Strategic Plan draft that will be presented to City Council in our upcoming
work session line by line…word by word…and edited the plan as a group. After
we finished, Ron made a motion to accept the changes to the work plan and present
them to the city. Motion was carried. The RAC workshop with the City Council
will be 02.23.10 at 5:30pm at city hall.
Social Media: Kevin suggested we make use of social media on our city web page
to help promote our upcoming events. Kevin will get in contact with John Evans
about adding a link to our facebook page. Kevin volunteered to set up a twitter
account and also suggested in the future we create short video segments from our
events to add to Youtube.
