Call to Order: 7:05 pm
Announcement: Next and all following meetings will be held in the Fireplace Room in the Richfield Community Center until further notice.
Wood Lake Paint Out Ron Wilson Feedback indicates that the event was a success.
4th of July Parade Participation Judy Goebel, Travis Gorshe RAC float on Judy's truck was well received. Parade logistics seemed a little less organized than last year, but otherwise
uneventful. The convertible with Charles Lindbergh attracted attention from the audience and it is hoped that it will help raise interest in the Veterans' Memorial project. The banner
and magnetic door signs from the convertible will be reusable for other events.
Mural Project Willie Falwell The mural is making good progress after a delayed start due to need to resolve the design prior to beginning. Willie started actual painting on July 19.
Willie hopes to complete the work by August 15, prior to pre-school-year teacher commitments. More volunteer painters are needed. An announcement was printed in the Sun Current and
that may encourage some people to come forward. The financial side of the project is going well, Thusfar no expenses have been incurred because materials have been donated by paint
companies.
Publicity Jackie Mihalik/Michelle Schwantes /Jackie will include a photo from the Wood Lake paint out in her next newsletter. Publicity committee is having more success with getting
items into the Sun Current by sending them multiple times and following up with phone calls.
Veterans' Memorial Committee Travis Gorshe There was no full committee meeting in the past month. Travis has developed a timeline of milestones needed in order to have the memorial
ready for dedication on July 2, 2008 as part of the Richfield Centennial. The final proposal needs to be ready for presentation to city council by November, 2006. Travis does not feel
that there is time for a competition for a sculptor and recommends using Pual Wesson and his foundry, Creative Castings. They have done a previous scultpure of Charles Lindbergh. Cost
estimate for phase 1 of the memorial is $90,000 to $100,000. People will be able to pay for names to be inscribed on the memorial plaques of the memorial for $500. This will now be
open to any veteran of any US war who has an honorable discharge. The Twins Game fund raiser was cancelled because not enough tickets were sold. Fund raising plans now include possible
spring and fall events in 2007.
Primary contribution from RAC at this time will be asthetic advice on colors of materials and design for the memorial.
Richfield Art Center Grant Application Susan Rublein Susan was unable to attend the meeting. Ron will urge her to do some writing on the grant application prior to next meeting.
Community Center Art Display Ron Wilson Gail Kluge is now scheduled for May-June, 2007
Community Theatre Fund Raiser Michelle Schwantes The performance will be held at Richfield Junior High. Auditions will be August 14 – 15 at the Community Center. Michelle will try
to solicit donations from local business.
Richfield Centennial Logo Competition Mary Olafson (absent) Kimberley reported that her design was selected, but is currently being revised. Once final details are finalized, she will
share it with the RAC.
Day in the Life of Richfield Photo Project Dave Dunham (absent) Ron Wilson standing in. No progress, and Lisa is leaving the Augsburg Library. This also casts doubt on the annual Teen
Art Contest that she always coordinated.
New Business
Human Rights Commission Joint Projects Ron Wilson Richfield Human Rights Commission would like to partner with RAC on more joint projects. It was suggested that Rich Fest might be
able to become an annual event with RAC assistance, rather than occurring once every 2 years.
Cattail Days Ron Wilson No RAC presence is planned except for any Veterans’ Memorial activity Travis may plan.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 pm.
