CALL TO ORDER/APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chair Johanson called the regular CSC meeting to order at 7:02.
Johanson moved, seconded by Vrieze Daniels, to approve the minutes of the regular July meeting. Approved, by consensus.
STAFF REPORTS
Recreation Services
RS Director Huemiller reported on the following:
• Fall Program Guide was published and registration has been strong.
• HUD funding was released for the Wood Lake project. Demolition and construction began; hoping to finish concrete before the cold weather.
• Vets Park Project: Going out to bid for the pool project. Ice Arena roof bid will go out for bid. Vets Park being surveyed for trail and site work.
Exploring a Hennepin County grant for new features at the zero-depth pool.
• Richfield Lake vegetation trimming is done to improve viewscapes and corners for visibility.
• Great River Greening to do habitat management plans for several parks.
• Master Parks Plan process will begin next year, which will involve the Community Services Commission and public input.
• Cosmic Mini Golf has been successful.
• Penn Fest is approaching September 21.
• Fee Assistance Program: $17k has been used this year.
Huemiller showed an update of the Wood Lake building project, particularly proposals for the interpretive exhibits.
