Chair Johanson called the meeting to order at 7:01.
STAFF REPORTS
Wood Lake Nature Center
Nature Center Manager Smithson reported on the work being performed with Great River Greening to perform forest restoration work. He also
reported on a salvage group that will remove many fixtures from the building before demolition.
Public Works: Forestry
Deputy PW Director Link presented an update on City forestry projects (tree sale, Emerald Ash Borer grant).
Recreation Services
RS Director Huemiller reported on the following:
-Grants being pursued for invasive plant removal and prairie plantings.
-A Conservation Corps member will be brought on to help with planting projects, tree surveys, etc.
-Tree removals have begun for the Wood Lake Nature Center Building Project.

REGULAR COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MEETING
CALL TO ORDER/APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chair Johanson called the regular CSC meeting to order at 7:35
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Skoog moved, seconded by Anderson, to approve the minutes of the regular March meeting. Approved by consensus.
STAFF REPORTS
Recreation Services
RS Director Huemiller reported on the following:
-Splash pad project is progressing. Scheduled to open by June 6.
-Interviews have begun for the pool liner portion of the Vets Park project.
-RFP will be issued soon for the park portion of the Vets Park project.
-Applying for grant money for solar panels on the Arena.
-Wood Lake Building Project groundbreaking ceremony coming up
-Bidding is happening for subcontractor work.
Huemiller reviewed the 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Plan. He said that, with the exception of the play feature replacement projects, other
items are more vague, in an effort to wait until after the Parks Master Plan to assess what is needed and what it will cost (resurfacing tennis
courts, trails, etc).
